Are they actually considering abolishing it?

Hope they do.

A goal should be a goal regardless of where it's scored. For one to mean more than another is just stupid.

I gather it was brought in to encouarge attacking football - as away teams sat deep hoping to get the oppostion back to their place.

The absolute worst rule in football.

To lose not because your opponent out played you or outscored you, but because you scored in different locations is just laughable.

I want to see the most exciting teams in the final. The best and most attacking team should go through in the event of a draw after 2 legs, like in boxing! shots on target then shots off target then percentage of possession in the opponents half. This keeps it exciting and the ones parking the bus get eliminated. Now in really close matches ie less than 5% difference it goes straight to penalties. Not as clean cut as away goals etc but then 50 years ago they did not have the technology of today to make this easy to orchestrate.

Sounds overly complicated and would never ever pass muster at the old folk's home that is FIFA.

Technology is irrelevant. It took until 2014 to allow goal line technology and cricket (which has maybe 1pct of FIFA's budget) has used instant replay technology to assist umpires since the late 1980s.

Keep it simple. Whoever scores the most wins. If it's a tie, penalties.

Simples.

None of this most shots, possession etc.

Exactly teams would just hammer it at their keeper from 40 yards cause it's a shot on target.
