New England Captain

Gerrard has retired. Never been as good for country as he is for club but 114 caps is a decent return.

Who's next?

Rooney is probably the favourite. Hart is also being talked about. Anyone else?

I don't know how much insight I have as a non-Englishman, but what about somebody like Sturridge? I don't like him that much, but he's young and definitely a part of the next generation, whereas Rooney is more a member of the last one. Cahill or Sturridge would get my vote if I were in the FA

I see what you're saying but I too would give it too someone from the next generation to freshen things up.

Not Sturridge though.

If the guy wasn't so injury prone and such an idiot, Wilshere would be my choice.

He's not really in the first XI right now is he? That part just seems kinda unlikely.

He'll be first team now with Gerrard gone.

He would have been first choice already if he wasn't injury prone and an idiot.

That's probably true. But I honestly don't think the FA would give it to him with all the controversy surrounding the smoking and all that

Reckon Rooney will benefit massively from the armband. Cahill/Hart would be better suitors of it, though.

The only proven winner in red and white at this club? Arsene Wenger. Sack the board.
