Messi is 34 years old! Around this age, most players are playing MLS! Same goes for Ronaldo. Credit to both for still staying in shape, still in form to be considered the best in the world. Cowardly, bottler? I disagree.

They're giving him €1m a week.

There's nothing else to discuss when that sort of money is on the table.

That is utterly obscene. When you think of how the world has suffered, deaths, businesses down the tube, livlihoods lost. One week's salary could save 4 busnesses from going bust not far from their ground probably. I'm sick of all this money in football.

It's also down the to the people who are paying him such a ridiculous amount. I hope Messi gives back with his money.

It's also down to the fans that pay and watch. Football is no different to any other business. Same applies to movie stars, singers and entertainment industry as a whole. They generate millions/billions because we're willing to pay for it and watch.

I wonder how much they'll pay for a ticket?

They're probably charging the same money for a season ticket. It's probably less than an Arsenal season ticket! But I'd leave the morality side out of it because we could all choose to donate the money we spend on entertainment to charity instead.

No doubt the Qatar World Cup will have influenced the decision to get him.

Probably something in his contract saying he'll promote it for them.

No but it's the same principle. The little money you have in your back pocket is spent on football and entertainment instead of charities. That's why these guys get paid so well because we all participate.
