I found a whole new level of respect for him after tonight.

Say what you want about him being selfish, attention seeker ect but he's 1 in a million.

I thought after his injury tonight he would of been in the changing rooms all night moping about his injury after we saw him in tears but he was back out there and motivating each player at full time and during the breaks in extra time. Ronaldo is a true leader and he desperately wanted to win the Euro's for himself and more importantly his country.

Im really pleased for him because he fully deserves this success. He's an inspiration.

I hope that injury isn't too serious. The way his foot twisted was horrible and you could tell straight away it was something serious the way he went down.

:)

Man is a monster, clearly wanted to stay on and help his team so badly. Was great to see him on the sidelines acting as 2nd manager and telling Guerreiro to get the f back on and secure the victory

I think people mistake his desire and will to be the best and always win, for arrogance, far too much. Of course he is somewhat cocky and will know he is, at worst, up there with the best but the guy just has immense desire to destroy everyone in his way.

He cares a lot more than other players. There's actually something to be admired in that, especially when Messi is spending his time worrying about how to dodge taxes, Ronaldo is genuinely trying to better himself to be the best player he can be.

Kind of get the feeling that Messi was born with what he had and Ronaldo is the underdog who was never as good but had to work twice as hard to compete with him

What a player. Gets them to the final playing a crucial role in every knockout game, then is an inspiration and a manager in the final for his teammates to win it. That is the difference. Messis teammates don't believe in him the way Ronaldo's teammates do. If messi got injured early in a game I cannot see his teammates rallying around him and winning it. Ronaldo has done that for Portugal and is a champion.

never saw an injury take up so much time and derail an opponent so completely.

i like mess's game more, but thats mere preference.

ronny obviously works his ass off and is great/phenomenal and any other adjective...

hes also a decent chap aside from his on field bitchiness.

he was very happy and good for him and his portuguese mates and countrymen.

In addition

Cristiano Ronaldo funded the education of a 7 y.o. survivor of the horrific 2004 tsunami in Indonesia. The boy was found 21 days after the disaster, alone and wearing a Portuguese national football team jersey. The boy grew up to be a football player and was signed by Sporting Lisbon last year
