Dortmund apparently close to a 30m+ deal for a Birmingham pubber. Only 16.

Ffs.

Take Nelson for that.

Marca
Bale is Real Madrid's main headache this summer

The coronavirus outbreak had led to the suspension of football activity in Spain, but Real Madrid are already making plans for summer and Gareth Bale's departure is one of the most important issues they will have to deal with.

Los Blancos are not willing to keep the Welshman for next season, but they are aware that his exit will be complicated.

They believe that they have given him enough chances to prove that he can be a vital cog for the team, but Bale hasn't paid back their confidence.

Following Cristiano Ronaldo's departure in 2018, the Wales international was expected to step up and fill in the Portuguese's boots.

However, Bale didn't live up to expectation and ended up falling behind Vinicius Junior in the pecking order.

Last summer, he came close to departing the club but his move to China fell through.

Zinedine Zidane decided to count on him and gave him playing time at the start of the season, but Bale failed to deliver.

The 30-year-old hasn't scored in the league since September, mustering just a couple of goals this season.

Bale has participated in 18 games, while he has only played three matches in 2020.

However, his contribution in football terms is just one of the three reasons behind Real Madrid's decision to offload him.

The club are adamant that they can't afford to pay a salary of around 17 million euros for a player who is not even starting.

Moreover, they are aware that after the Brexit comes to fruition next January, Bale will occupy a non-EU player spot.

With Vinicius, Rodrygo Goes, Reinier Jesus, Eder Militao and Take Kubo competing for the three available slots, Real Madrid will have to try to figure out a solution for the former Tottenham Hotspur star.

The problem, however, is that Bale is willing to see out his contract, which comes to an end in 2022.

His agent, Jonathan Barnett, has made clear that his client enjoys life in Madrid and is not keen to leave the club.

Real Madrid are no longer ruling out letting the player depart for free as no European club is willing to meet his salary demands

Bale agreed to depart to China because he was going to earn 25 million euros net, but the Chinese league have imposed a salary limit and, as such, the Asian country doesn't seem as a feasible destination for the time being.

He could either join a Premier League side or move to the United States, but Real Madrid are clear that they can no longer sustain Bale's financial requirements.

Surely he'll go to America.

He'd be a superstar out there.

That's cheap for Sane.

City need to do the football world a favour and tell Bayern to f**k themselves. They always seem to be able to get players to force moves / run down their contracts

A good thread on the Pjanic-Arthur swap.

Missed the yearly cost of the new player at each club though.

Either way it’s a terrible deal for Barca, unless they secretly have no faith in Arthur to get any better.

I'm not too happy about it. The money, not him leaving.

Wish Madrid could've squeezed another €10 million out of Inter or at least included a buyback clause.

He doesn't fit a back four because his defending is very average. I think Hakimi will do well in Conte's system with 3 CBs since he can focus on being a wingback and not have the defensive duties he would in Zidane's system.

Got to be considered a coup for Conte and Inter. Fits Conte Inter system perfectly. Still surprised Real Madrid have let him go and for so cheap.
