The real tragedy is RVP missing so many games during the 09/10 season when Cesc was at his best.

We win the league if those two were able to play together consistently that season.

The Emirates Tragedy.

We win the League in 07/08 if we had a dime to spend.

We win the League in 09/10 if van Persie had played 38 games, or if we had a good back-up striker.

We win the League in 10/11 if we didn't collapse mentally after Birmingham.

We win the League in 13/14 if Ramsey didn't pick up that injury.

We win the League in 15/16 if we had a world class striker.

...

In my opinion 10/11 was the closest we came.

Cesc was a great player for us. World Class

He left under a bad taste

He came back a traitor to Chelsea but understandable as he won 2 Premier leagues with them.

He's coming to the end.

He realized his best years were with us.

Fair enough brother. I gave you stick when you were playing for Chelsea and all my bad feeling is long gone.

Great interview mind you.

For all the hate Cesc gets, it's worth keeping in mind the massive responsibilities Wenger heaped on him before he was even 21. He had to do the work of 2 players, and buckled under the pressure only in his final season with us; he was world class for the prior 3.

He's 32. Should still be at the top of his game. Why isn't he?

He peaked in 2010.

Had a phenomenal season in 14/15.

That's Cesc.

Unlike our Mesut.

Ozil is 31 and on the decline. Henry was on his way out of Barca and over to play MLS around Cesc's age. Not all players can play beyond their 30s and maintain that same level.

Yep. Tends to happen when players peak at an early age. But in general a lot of players start to dip after 30 and it's rare they're able to maintain.

Agree with you guys. Those who peak early tend to fade away quickly. That's what happened with Cesc.

It's amazing that Cesc was actually past his prime by 12/13. And, Rooney went downhill from 14/15. Cesc was 25/26. Rooney was 29.

It's even weirder in Cesc and Owen's cases. They were pretty much done by the time they were in their late-20s.

I think Fabregas lost his passion for the game part way through his Chelsea time.

Having that passion and desire is what separates top level professional footballers from other players with equal talent.

Arsenal and Barca were passions for him. Chelsea was a job.

Cesc wasn't done by 12/13. He won the Premier League in 2014/15 and again in 2016/17 along with the FA Cup in 2017/18.

I didn't say he was done. I said he was past his prime.

Looking at the exact quote.

They were pretty much done by the time they were in their late-20s.

Putting him in the same category as Michael Owen who really was done by his late 20s is off.

Yes. He was in his late-20s after the 2014 season, so I'm not sure where in the semantics did I march wrong.

I never watched Cesc at Chelsea. Could any of you that did, share an analysis of how he played and how good he was? Thanks
