Nah. What Cesc was doing it that midfield whilst having players like Hleb, Flamini, Denilson, Eboue and Adebayor around him.

He's probably to blame for my high expectations for Arsenal midfielders. Even with a team full of kids or bang average players he'd make attacking football look so easy and pull the strings so everyone is playing champagne football!

Joined CFC in 2014 aged 27
18 PL assists in 14/15 as Chelsea won the title
12 PL assists in 16/17 the second time he won

He was talking about Makelele, not Cesc.

Still stand by it, only behind Keane and Vieira in my book. Would even include Gilberto behind him (And I f***ing LOVE Gilberto) but was talking CMs anyway.

Gerrard and Lamps did more in the EPL but quality wise Cesc was better, can’t compare their EPL careers given the former 2 were here the whole time. If he had left us for Chelsea initially he’d have His stamp over all the trophies rather than his Barca ones being chalked up to them being a top team.

Absolute world class player and still think it was Wengers biggest mistake not to take him back.

To sum up the quality cesc has, since his return in 14-15 he has 41 pl assists to ozils 42, thats ridiculous that even past his prime he has managed to keep pace with a 10 as creative as ozil whilst playing deep and barely starting for 2 and a half years.

I could see Wenger's predicament having cazorla, ozil, Ramsey and wilshere, in hindsight it was a no brainer though.

In 2014 it would have been a decision between buying Fabregas or Alexis. Glad we went with Alexis but I weep thinking of the money we wasted on Chambers, Welbeck and Debuchy that summer.

I can't understand why we couldn't have both when looking at the money wasted. We never got that midfield balance right.

Cesc has been finished as a cm for years hence Barca never played him there and when they did they were completely overrun. We didn't have flamini to look after Cesc s shitness as he did in 07/08.

And as an AM, he's not in Ozils league. Squad cover maybe but after the way he treated us, why anyone would've wanted him back, I don't know.

Have some pride people ffs

Didn’t he say it was because of Ramsey? That’s what makes it worse for me, obviously never rated the guy but no reason we couldn’t have them all and see who worked out best.

Really it would likely have meant Cazorla stayed as Ozils backup or out wide and we had better options all round. Never turn down a player of cesc’s quality, especially with a first option buy back.

Everything went downhill when vieira left and wenger decided fabregas was his replacement imo.

That is when we stopped being hated and feared and became too nice, everyone's 'second favourite team'. Its when pretty football became more important than winning. Its when passing became more important than shooting. Its when we replaced 6'+ midfield monsters with short, technical players.

Remember we could have got xabi Alonso before Liverpool had even heard of him but we didn't cos Wenger put his trust in this guy. His biggest mistake?
