L'Equipe: Mourinho-Roma, Conte to Inter?

While Antonio Conte reconsiders the Inter proposal, L’Equipe claims Roma offered Jose Mourinho a three-year contract.

The two Serie A clubs continue to plan for next season and seem to be on a similar wavelength when it comes to management options.

According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Roma have put a three-year deal on the table for Mourinho, but he would only accept if they qualified for the Champions League.

The other major alternative for Mou at the moment is Paris Saint-Germain, but they seem inclined to back Thomas Tuchel, even with recent poor results.

Mourinho and Conte are both on the same radar for Roma as well as Inter, with negotiations reported to be finely balanced.

Roma have not disguised their interest in signing ex-Chelsea boss Conte, but La Repubblica claim that Inter director Beppe Marotta met with Conte this week and asked him to wait before signing anything.

That is because Nerazzurri President Steven Zhang is ready to give the all-clear on Conte and a huge transfer campaign to bolster the squad.

Il Tempo newspaper points to a potentially fascinating extra that could aid Conte’s move back to Italy and boost his salary by €3m.

The latest tax law change is meant to encourage Italian talent that has emigrated looking for work to return to the Peninsula and save cash on their wages.

It would also apply to football players and tacticians, meaning Conte could in theory receive €16m per season on a three-year contract.

Conte, Mourinho, Ancelotti, and Allegri all managing top clubs in Italy?

Might have to re-start watching Serie A regularly if this happens.

Juventus and Adidas have unveiled their new kit for 2019-20, which controversially removes the black-and-white stripes for a monochrome look.

The shirt had already been extensively leaked over the last few months, prompting a mixture of joy and irritation among fans for the way it has broken off from the traditional stripes.

There is also a nod to the first ever jersey used by Juventus, which was pink, thanks to a stripe down the centre of the shirt.

It's reported this design was adopted after research found black and white stripes reminded Americans of a referee, as this is the uniform worn by officials in baseball and American Football.

Damn, talk about giving tradition the middle finger.

Imagine being a life-long Juventus fan and you've just woken from a 2-year coma.

You wouldn't recognise the badge, or the kit of the club you've supported all your life.

I'm in the minority, but I like their new crest more. Its minimalist approach slaps imo

Baseball umpires don't wear black and white stripes and don't think they ever have. :dizzy:

People are going to read this and think it was the American publics decision.

BBC
Daniele de Rossi to leave Serie A side Roma at end of season

Veteran Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi will leave the Italian side at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old, who joined the Serie A giants in 2000 from his hometown club Ostia Mare, has made 615 appearances and scored 63 goals for them.

A Roma statement said De Rossi, who won the 2006 World Cup with Italy, would not be retiring but pursuing "a new adventure" elsewhere.

De Rossi's final game for the club will be against Parma on Sunday, 26 May.

"Roma and I chose each other," he said. "There is a lot of love between us, both now and in the future - even if it will be in another form."

De Rossi, who rejected the chance to move into a director's role at Roma as he "still feels like a player", won the Coppa Italia in 2007 and 2008, as well as Supercoppa in 2007, with the club.

He will leave with the second most appearances for the Giallorossi behind Francesco Totti, who retired in 2017 having played 786 times.

"Looking back, some specific moments I would change," he added. "But overall, I wouldn't change anything about staying loyal to this team.

"If I had a magic wand, I would have put a few more trophies on the mantelpiece."

Roma are three points off a top-four spot in Serie A, which would secure Champions League qualification, in Serie A with two games left.

"We will all shed tears when he pulls on the Giallorossi shirt for the last time against Parma but we respect his desire to prolong his playing career - even if, at almost 36, it will be away from Rome," said Roma president Jim Pallotta.

"On behalf of everyone at Roma, I'd like to thank Daniele for his incredible dedication to this club and ensure him that our doors will remain open for him to return to the club in a new role whenever he wants."
