It's because confessions aren't always per definition admissible in court. The submission of Ronaldo's DNA will add credibility to his admission.
Difficult to side with either party, what one might consider as rough sex, the other will consider as rape and vice versa.
However, if the alleged 'strong evidence' of an alleged 'secret settlement' between him and the alleged victim rings true, this will not work in Ronaldo's favor should the case go to court.
Having said that, I reckon this case will always remain a he-said-she-said story among the public, regardless of whether he ends up convicted or in case the statute of limitations expires.
IIRC, following the Cosby case, SoL in Nevada got extended from 10 to 20 years, which means she has time until 2029 to prove her case.
Or does the 20-year rule not apply to incidents that occurred prior to the extension of SoL?
