Well, per Transfermarkt, we sold him for €5m and he's worth €60m now.

The players transitioning from the youth set up to the first team need extra support from the fans. They're going to have flaws in their game but they need the right sort of environment to learn from their mistakes. During the Project Youth years, we were searching out the very best young players with high potential projections and not one reached the heights expected of them except Cesc. But I would argue Cesc is a product of Barcelona's youth system.

Cesc slotted into a team that could cover his mistakes and allow him space to flourish.

Years later that team had been stripped down (tbf he was here when the stripping stepped up). He was an exceptional talent and it's difficult for most youngsters to recreate it. Even still, the environment since Cesc has been toxic for kids learning in the first team tbf.

They're played too much and not eased in if they have talent due to a thin squad and then when they inevitable struggle, people pile in. Its nuts how they are expected to turn out the same output as seasoned players in their prime.

Too much pressure is put on most of them and they end up leaving in order to get some actual backing.

True. Cesc played with the Invicibles for a few seasons at least but by the time we had stripped all that away he was given the captains armband and he was expected to lead a team whilst still learning his craft. Instead of teaching him defensive discipline and that side of the game where he could have been a more well rounded CM, Wenger moved him further forward and had him focusing on attack and scoring goals. Similar to the sort of coaching Ramsey received where a CM is given license to abandon their defensive duties and encourages reckless movement.

Cesc coped well under the circumstances but we've seen many shuttled into an unfamiliar position that they struggle to adapt to but are harshly judged by the fans. Happens too often.

None Wenger's fault though.

We were priced out on both occasions.

Ibra was the one where we messed up. As in, we could have signed him if we wanted. Yaya Toure too.

Two players we should have signed:

Drogba and Kompany.

Both were reported to want to come to us when they first came to England to play.

The mistakes from Wenger haven't gone unnoticed he's still without a job.

I don't know about Drogba. But Kompany was offered around £150k by City as wages even if the transfer fee was low. Yes, that's a decade ago.

Ibra - came around for a trial as a kid when we had prime Henry, Wiltord and Kanu in the team. There is no way he was ever going to be a first team player that year.
Yaya - did not get a visa
Hazard - we could not pay his 24M transfer value when our record signing was Arshavin at half that.
Gnabry - messed up those two seasons when he was being watched for first team opportunities. His agent chose west brom despite the club being against it, he got injured and put on weight. It was only when he went for the olympics that he blew up at which point he refused to sign a new deal.
