reading a lot this morning that if Walcott does leave in January, Gnarby has been promised by Wenger he'll be his replacement. Not sure if that's a wise move, we should probably be going for the likes of Lopez! but I'm all for giving him a chance, have enough faith in him.

Would be a typical Wenger move

Gnabry agrees new long-term contract

Young forward Serge Gnabry has agreed a new long-term contract with Arsenal Football Club.

The 18-year old Germany youth international has emerged as one of the brightest young talents in the Gunners’ ranks. He scored his first senior goal for the Club in the 2-1 Premier League victory over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in September - a week after making his full Premier League debut against Stoke City.

Blessed with raw pace and technical skill, Gnabry signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2012, having impressed for the under-18 side.

He has technical ability, he has power, he has pace, he has finishing quality and he can give a final ball. He's a powerful offensive player and I believe that he will be a great player for Arsenal Football Club
Arsène Wenger

He quickly made the step up to senior level during 2012/13, making substitute appearances in the Premier League at Norwich City and the Champions League home match against Schalke. In the process Gnabry became the second youngest Arsenal player - after Jack Wilshere - to appear in both competitions.

This season, Gnabry has also featured in the Capital One Cup - playing the full 120 minutes against West Bromwich Albion, having made his first competitive senior start in the same competition last season in a 7-5 win over Reading.

Arsène Wenger said:
“We signed Serge Gnabry because I believe that he will be a great player. He's nearly there now, and competes for a regular place in the team in the Premier League.

"He has technical ability, he has power, he has pace, he has finishing quality and he can give a final ball. He's a powerful offensive player and I believe that he will be a great player for Arsenal Football Club.”

Gnabry said: “Arsenal is a great football club and I’m so happy to be here and sign a new contract. For me, now it’s all about working hard and developing my game.

"I’ve had some good opportunities recently in the first team, which has given me extra confidence, and this will only improve my game. I’m looking forward to giving my best for this club in the years to come.”

Everyone at Arsenal is looking forward to Serge’s continued progression and development with the Club over the coming years.

Good stuff :arsenal3:

I hope the officials have learnt from mistakes though, handing over too much money.

Good news, looks like a bright prospect. If he and Ox live up to their potential, we could have some devastating wingers in a few years.

It just shows you how important your discipline in younger years is in regards to being a footballer, i was am a very gifted footballer with a drug problem and a liking for fast food, chamberlains owl lad through playing the game and his own experiences has made him a better player than his father ever could be.

Reason im saying this is a guy i used to play with plays for leeds now only seen it the other day, ye he was sick good but were playing 7 on 7 in competitive matches with him. which really got me thinking....

I have another friend who somehow never made it, i dont know how either, he was the best footballer i ever played against by miles, he was playing in irish leagues at one stage but was constantly overlooked for his size apparently.

Discipline is key. I think ive said it before, but my Step dad used to know Les Ferdinand back in the day. He said that Ferdinand wasnt the most gifted player around, there were plenty more players that would outshine him, but what they didnt have was his determination and work ethic.

He trained constantly on fitness, finishing, playing when others were out pissing it up and chasing birds and he made it. There are plenty of others that could be add onto that list.

I had a few mates that i think could have made it, but the temptation of nights out, birds and other disractions ended that.

Having said that, you only live once and those memories and good times are there forever!

ye zeddie, thats exactly what i mean. i cant exactly envisage adnan januzaj out trying pull birds when hes 17 like Macheda or Ravel Morrison.

Id well beleive what u say about ferdinand, proves the point really.

u see the father the role model is critical in all of this, he knows the pitfalls, ox's dad was probably doing the same thing. they keep the kids well in check through there own experiences.

the dude im saying who was overlooked because he was small, he was much better than the guy who plays for leeds.
he was of course, iirc taking 7 ecstacy tablets when he was 15, stopped playing for years, amongst many other things. he plays semi pro now.

I actually think Macheda is a seriously talented player, there were reports of him being in casinos aged 17 out drinking champaigne every night and rouletting it up after he scored them goals for us that won the league.

I like this kid and he looks very promising. but there is no information about the duration of the contract and any salary mentioned...but again it sounds like we give a kid a long-term contract and he hasn't proved much so far. don't get me wrong I think this guy will be a very good player but we shouldn't make the same mistake like we made with denilson and company.

and to keep a guy like sagna for the next 2 years is more important at the moment IMO
