Yeah I know, it's one of the main reasons why I don't play it actively.
It's like the football version of pokémon cards, except 10 times worse as it doesn't reflect the player's real ability.
Prefer to play seasons 4/4.5 stars instead, less auto-finishing by attackers and less auto-defending by defenders = higher skill level and much more entertaining games in general imo

Podolski was a monster on FIFA 13 tbh
88 acceleration
87 sprint
86 finishing
91 volleys
88 long shots
91 shot power
+ decent dribbling, ball control etc
Just had to make sure you used his left foot because his right peg was non-existent

forgot what fifa it was but he was a CF on ultimate team and near post finishes were OP as f**k and he hit the ball at about 600 mp/h
