Stars of tomorrow - Players to watch

Postby gzagee » Sat Jan 23, 2010 3:38 pm

This is not another transfer rumours thread, it's a kind of scouting thread.

Which young players currently plying their trade do you think have what it takes to be the next world stars?

We have a number of foreign members here so I'd imagine they've watched some young talent who are about to make a name for themselves. Players some of us are not aware of.

So if you've heard of some young buck who looks like he's got what it takes, let us know here.

I'll start with David De Gea, aged 19. Goalkeeper, plays for Ath Madrid. Getting rave reviews.
Apparently the top Spanish clubs and ManUre are watching his progress.

Jordan Rhodes. 18 goals this year in what is his first full season (only had a few appearneces before that). Still only 19 and big clubs have watched.

Alex Smithies. Goalkeeper at Huddersfield and England under 19's who I've mentioned before. Nearly every club in the top 2 divisions in England have been to watch him. Signed a new contract late last season which finished the rumours of him going to Spurs, Everton or Chelsea (he was going to be out of contract).

Stephen Demitrou of Dagenham and Redbridge alright he won't be a premiership player but he'll be a top marksman in the lower leagues. Used to ref the kid when he was a youngster

Romelu Lukaku, Ozil, Andreas Beck, Iker Munain, Canales.. There's plenty of talent which can become world beaters.

A few from the Aussie A-League.

Luke DeVere, 20, Brisbane Roar CB.
Tommy Oar, 18, speedy left winger for Brisbane Roar.
Michael Zullo, 21, another speedy left winger for Brisbane Roar. Been pushed to left back because of Oar.
Danny Vukovic, 25, probably the best GK in the A-League. Plays for Central Coast Mariners.
Kofi Danning, 18, striker for Sydney FC.
