Kick Racism Out of Football

Unless it’s against Jews, then fix the problem by banning Jews

Disgraceful. I’ve never been more disgusted by the police and football authorities.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand there is credible intel that things will happen and the police have said they cannot guarantee the safety of the fans, so fair play, they called it out and are doing the right thing, they are the experts on such matters not us. We all know how it works, if there were clashes and it got out of hand the police would get crucified for a) not preventing the trouble having known there was a credible threat and b) allowing the supporters to come.

On the other hand the jewish fans are being punished unfairly. I think the only fair decision would be for the game to be played behind closed doors, so neither team has an advantage.

Were black fans banned from Millwall matches by the police in the 80s?

No.

Would that happen now if it was still a major problem at Millwall?

No.

You'd be up in arms. We'd never hear the end of it.

Maybe we'll start altering other cultural events in case the police cant cope. Where does that end? Shall we cancel major concerts / sporting events cos terrorism?

It absolutely categorically isn't "fair play"

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it is fair, I already said that. Were the shoe on the other foot - black fans banned from the stadium, I would be up in arms, but then you can't ignore the context of this UFGN. Black people are not committing genocide and are not guilty of apartheid against a white minority, the whole world is not up in arms against black nations for oppressing a minority.

So its not as easy as just swapping Blacks with Jews and saying I wouldn't like it, the whole world is fuming with Israel right now.

It is exactly the same.

Its not, context is everything.

Black people were getting attacked at Millwall for no other reason than racism. Teams fans are fighting the Israeli fans because they are angry about whats going on in Palestine. Israeli fans were safe before now. So no, its not the same, Police have to deal with far more threats against jewish fans than they ever did before and its not unreasonable once you look at the scale of the animosity to say the police are overwhelmed - which is exactly what they are saying here.
