Happy for our players but this is one poverty long-list. State of the game and all.

It’s a joke award

Never goes to defenders, hardly ever goes to Prem players

Just rename it “most fashionable player in Spain with casual football fangirls”

These are not legitimate awards, they are PR events for the largely irrelevant football media.

Farcical scenes at the awards as rodri somehow wins it lol

Not man city's best player or Spain in the euros.

Least deserved winner since 2023?

Real Madrid throwing a fit over this is hilarious. :rofll:

What pettiness. Not unexpected though. Pathetic club.

Clearly a great player, but Ive never watched a Citeh game with him playing and thought ....wow that was amazing or similar. On that basis it appears to be a vote for the team and the centre of the team, rather than the most outstanding player of the year.

It's a poll of French football journos, I'm not surprised they picked a European.

Why stop at Europe and not exclusively France - wouldn't they just go for Mbappe?

Mbappe had a meh season, he should have gotten it in 2018 for the WC though. But besides that, French football is political, some wouldn't be happy about Mbappe advocating against the far right in elections. Benzema should have gotten it in 2023 for winning the CL, LL double with 60 G+A, best in Europe.
