That's a pretty serious lack of foresight by the people who okayed the font design.

Ditching the design (or even the digital 4 as a whole) and using the classic variant in the future would solve the issue from a graphical standpoint.

Having said that, it'd be moot if 44—like 88—has become too associated with certain types of individuals.
