I have been up for Deutschland before the tournament started, but I have to admit the Turks grew on me over the week. You have to give them credit for never quitting.

English fans haven't got the rosiest of images in Europe (yes, I know our fans didn't stab anyone) but you wouldn't want to be associated with the yobs would you?

I know a LOT of sincere, gracious and mature Turkish fans, who I sat with during the world cup and who cheered England on with me.

Just because there's an unsavoury element, doesn't mean a whole country's fans should be berated :naughty:

none of the German team dropped bombs on my house but i still don't like them.

Plus theres a lad at work who is Kurdish and the story's he has told me about what turkey has done to his country are shocking.

I understand what you're saying mate, but I'll lay good odds that whoever wronged your friend wasn't running around on the pitch tonight, know what I mean? :1970_two_smileys_drinking_beer_together.gif: ;)

Never write off the Germans. You can say that this is a weak German team, compared to their great teams of the 70s and 80s, which is probably true but I can think of teams with better individuals who'd love to be where Germany are now. Italy, France and Holland, for example. Lahm's goal brought back memories of Andreas Brehme. It was tough on Turkey but if you say they were unlucky tonight, by the same token, they were lucky in their previous games. Germany will need to improve to win the title but they're in the final. As long as Germany are in it, they are contenders.
There's David O'Leary and big Willie Young, sending Rixy and Stapleton off on a run

Don't be fooled by this inept performance, they'll be a different beast come the final. Underestimate them at your peril.
