eh?

:ziplip: :naughty: :P

punting a long ball up to a loan striker with little or no support every 10mins, is hardly putting pressure on

Sorry mate, but all I heard for MASSIVE spells of the second half were the FiveLive commentators creaming themselves because Liverpool were "in a shooting position" :snooty:

Apart from one attack they had in numbers, ab_fab is correct. All Liverpool did was hoof the ball clear and hope Torres got on the end of it, well in the second half anyway.

So how many shots did we have in the second half?

I'll concede that we had opportunities, but they weren't put away, and therein lies my point.

I'm sorry, but I just don't think that we dominated, and I can't believe I'm the only one who thinks that we desperately need to strengthen and re-focus asap.

There was stages in the 2nd half where Liverpool didn't have the ball for 5 minutes at a time. We pounded them at times, but as all too often we were useless in the final 3rd.

Look here: http://soccernet-akamai.espn.go.com/gam ... .CHAMPIONS

It shows each shot and where it was from, and you can look by half.

Guys, you're making my point for me.

Ineffective, ineffective, ineffective.

Listen, it's not like I enjoy pointing this out, I HATE the fact that we are goal shy at the moment, but it needs sorting out, and SOON

I have to take umbrage with the live commentary in that link "hopefully the second leg will be more exciting"? I'd like to know what game they were watching, because whoever wrote that hasn't got a clue.

We were ineffective around the box, but we were all over them in the second half, to such an extent that they had everyone except Benitez behind the ball at times.

Yes, that's my point though mate. How many goals did we get from this?

I know Liverpool defended as though their lives depended on it, but come on. They're not Brazil. Other teams have managed to score against them, and with our plethora of talented players, we should be able to get more than one when we desperately needed to. As it was though, we couldn't, and this is the point I am making.

I'm not just making this point based on this game either. It's been months since we've looked halfway decent and lethal (the Milan game aside)

I totally agree, we are rubbish in front of goal at times. Once again we wouldn't shoot from outside the box, and if we were more ruthless we could have had 3 or 4.

Imagine if we had a Torres or Ronaldo, the amount of times we dominate a game but with no end result is getting old. Yes Ade has scored his fair share this season, but he scores in bunches.

Yeah exactly, they were perfectly content to shut up shop and it's never easy to break teams down when they do that.

It's by no means unheard of though mate.
And if you're saying that we can't be expected to break them down, it's tantamount to saying that we aren't good enough, because you can bet that the likes of Barca would have found a goal from somewhere.

Basically, if we can't beat Liverpool when they shut up shop, we don't have a plan B.

We need one :sundae:

Not saying it's impossible but it's damned hard. Our plan B's are all injured mate.
