Wenger - Squad unchanged for trip to Manchester City

Arsène Wenger will select from an unchanged squad for the trip to Manchester City on Saturday.

Once again Arsenal will be without Tomas Rosicky (hamstring) though the Czech international is targeting a return at Blackburn on February 11. Johan Djourou (groin) is still three weeks away while Emmanuel Eboue, Kolo Toure and Alex Song are at the African Nations Cup.

Robin van Persie returned to training earlier this week. There have been no problems but Wenger would not be drawn on a return date. He is taking a softly, softly approach with the Dutch striker.

"Rosicky will still be out for the weekend," Wenger told Arsenal TV Online on Thursday. "We have set Blackburn as a target for him but Johan Djourou will be three more weeks. Otherwise all the players from Tuesday night should be available. It will be the same squad.

"As for Robin, it has all gone well. After last time we have decided not to push him and give him the needed time. I don't want to set any timescale because that means, if he is not ready by that date, I might feel I have to push him."

That doesn't surprise me with RVP.

I can't say I am looking forward to this game to be honest...although it should be a good one.

Man City haven't lost a game at home this season, but at the same time we have lost once to them in the last 11 meetings.

Hopefully, City will go easy on us, so we can go back top ahead of their city rivals,...seeing as the Spuds are likely to do the same later in the day against United

City have gone off form of late, and apparently there's a lack of striking options, so hopefully we can take advantage.

More Injury News

Manuel Almunia and Gilberto have been forced to drop out of the trip to Manchester City on Saturday.

The keeper twisted his thumb in training on Friday while the midfielder has a stiff back. With Tomas Rosicky (hamstring), Johan Djourou (groin) and Robin van Persie (thigh) already injured plus Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue and Alex Song on international duty, the manager says he has only 14 players for the game at the City of Manchester Stadium.

"Manuel Almunia is out," revealed the Frenchman at his pre-match press conference on Friday. "He has twisted his thumb. He did it in training today.

"It should be only one week so Jens Lehmann will come in tomorrow. It is a chance for him to play well and to come back with a win. Gilberto is out aswell. He has a stiff back.

"For me it is time for the African Nations Cup to finish now," the manager went on. "We have lost Denilson and Gilberto so we are short in the middle of the park. Tomorrow we are down to 14 outfield players."

I think we should cut out the Lehmann bashing now.

In his last few games he's done nothing wrong.

Im more than happy for him to play tomorrow.

Come On ARSENAL!!!

Guess you're right, hope he's extra fired up tomorrow, knowing that this might be his chance to get back into the first XI. What chance of him going up front for a corner in injury time and heading in the winner

BTW i wasn't directing that just at you ;)

I just think that he's last few games was good and if he's in goal we might aswell get behind him.

Although i will still be quietley shiting myself if anyone passes the ball back to him though ;)

Would you rather see Fabianski deputising after last week? :10:

Im more than happy to see Jens back, he will plsy like his life depends on it, plus he has a point to prove. clean sheet, me thinks! ;)

Their form hasn't been great recently, and they're struggling to score goals, if we play to our best I think we have to be favourites, it won't be easy of course, but we can do it.
