Eisfield sold to Fulham

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Eisfeld has joined Championship side Fulham in a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old German moved to the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund in January 2012 but has found first team opportunities few and far between at the Emirates.

The high point of Eisfeld’s short career as a Gunner was a neatly taken equaliser against West Bromwich Albion in last season’s Capital One Cup and he was also on the pitch the year before when Arsenal staged their remarkable comeback from 4-0 down to win 7-5 in the same competition against Reading.

Eisfeld moves across London to join forces with compatriot Felix Magath, the former Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich coach who failed to keep Fulham up last term, and pens a two-year contract with the option of a 12-month extension.

Good luck to the young man, he looks like he’s got what it takes to play at a high level…he just needs game time.

Not a big loss IMO. You'd expect him to have made more headway than this by this age.

Gutted he's gone. I remember the first preseason he featured in and I thought he was going to be special. But by the time I had that in my head Zelalem was stealing the plaudits.

Was always going to get very little chances and we've since added top quality to the side in his position so no big loss.

The only proven winner in red and white at this club? Arsene Wenger. Sack the board.

Sad to see him go but realistically his progress at his age was nowhere near good enough. Kris Olsson looks like a better option in that attacking midfield slot.

Unless you've watched him regularly for the reserves and know something the coaches and manager don't then you're making an extremely premature statement there.

At 21 he should be pushing for a place in the first team, he's nowhere near so letting him go seems sensible. He's a bit of an Arshavin tbh.

My thoughts exactly. I had high hopes for him. Wish him the best at Fulham. Seems with Sidwell (Also former Arsenal youth player) off to Stoke City, he may get some first team football.

Sidwell and Eisfeld play in different positions.

Good move for him. Ozil and Santi were the death of him here, but tbh, he didnt really impress me that much, must of been why we sold him.
