Not going to happen imo.

Tierney is clearly no1, same for Tomi on the right side.

Cedric and Nuno are back ups only, they need to stop being liabilities as well.

Tierney has been unable to stay fit in a season with early cup exits and no European football. With European football looking likely next season, whoever is behind Tierney in the pecking order will play 15-20 games, if not more.

It's important for us to have a solid backup in this position, so it's up to Arteta to decide whether Tavares can become a reliable player within short notice. If Arteta feels Tavares needs time, he'll have to bring in a new LB and send Tavares out on loan to a side that plays in a slightly more forgiving environment.

Got a feeling Nuno is going to find his place as a WB in a back 5.
Has some way to go to be solid in a back 4.
We’re seeing us switch to a back 3 with 2 WBs often now in certain game situations… Nuno’s directness and attacking threat can be useful on the break.

He was poor again, gave away the penalty. Think he’s been a poor signing.

By find his place as a WB, do you mean West Brom player? He's certainly got the form for that level
Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack.

I was surprised that he stayed on the pitch the whole match. I figured it was a confidence issue, but clearly he just can not defend. Not sure he would make it as a wing back as his shots and crossing are pretty wild most of the time.

He is Eboue in disguise I fear.

He can be shaped into a winger maybe. Bale and Saka were defenders..

Watching the full recording of the game today.
Tavares was good in the first half and for the start of the second half
Just a couple of mistakes spoiled his game after that, though he was very unlucky in the penalty decision.
It wasn’ta penalty. He won the header.
As mentioned he seems to go downhill fast when he makes an error.
Kind of player that needs help with confidence as he gains experience.

How can we have a second choice player that the manager doesn’t trust to play, what a waste of money 8m down the drain.

Another one who needs to be shipped of this summer

Another case of Arteta being incapable of developing a player if he just gets rid of Tavares. All he needs is a bit of coaching, you can coach awareness, you can coach the defensive side.

So much wrong with your comment I could write a thesis.

I will just say, Tavares had a period when he looked good and we didn't miss Tierney. Add to that, a manager - a good manager - should be able to develop players. And then, the kicker, it was Arteta that bought the player and now he doesn't fancy him!!!

We were told that Arteta was a good judge of talent, Lokonga and Tavares are proof that - he is not!! Funny how his judgement deemed Saliba and Guendouzi not good enough for Arsenal and both have gone on to be French internationals.

At best you can only say Arteta's judgement of talent is highly questionable.

Arteta bought a player, realised he wasn't good enough, stopped using him and might move him on.

If only Wenger had done that in his later years! Some of the crap he left behind on massive wages...
