Very true, they seem brainwashed into thinking this pleb of a so-called tactical genius is the man for the job and are very happy excepting mediocrity as the norm. :dontknow:

Yeah - we still have a minority of that toxic element in the fan base. They are very loud too and hurt the team.
It would be great if they would now go and infect some other team.

It's not toxic to demand success.

Yup. Mediocrity is never acceptable but it stems from the manager. As someone mentioned, all he's known is mediocrity. As a player and now as a manager so why are we surprised we are at that level?

The worrying thing is some fans and I use the term lightly have been completely convinced mediocrity is the way to go.

Why? I have no idea. They've never seen us be successful under the good Wenger days and think this is our level. That might be one reason but I try to see it from both sides but nope can't see why mediocrity would ever be accepted.

That's why I think we are infested with trolls

Depending on injury context and draws, I would move on from Arteta if he fails to meet these expectations. There are plenty of managers that make a nice meal with these ingredients.

Why would your objectives and expectations be different ?

I actually don't think CL money will make any difference.

We had a net spend of £130m this season, £60m last season, £100m the season before that and £60m prior to that. So since Wenger left we have had a net spend of £350m !!!! And we are in exactly the same place we were in back then LOL.

No point spending money if you have stupid or incompetent managers in charge.

Definitely! From the position we have been in twice this season, this is a disaster! We had nothing else to play for for f@<k sake!

Regarding next season, CL is the best we can hope for. Not sure that's possible without spending serious money though. We don't have Prem squad depth, let a lone Europa (your not good enough for CL) squad depth!

I can only see another wasted season coming as we struggle to fill the gaps left by departures. Remember 11/12 when we hurriedly brought in a lot of crap players last minute due to Fabregas, Nasri and Clichy exits?

Wenger somehow got 3rd place with Santos, Gervinho, Djourou etc because we had 30 goal RVP. Nowadays we can't even get 60 goals total.

The objective must be to win every competition we are in - why bother playing otherwise? - the reality is that finishing above two of City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Utd, Spurs ergo in fourth would be a decent season. But the objective must be to win every game, anything less is small club thinking.

Wouldn't bet against us doing a Leicester. The difference is we have the infrastructure that if we won it we could build on it and maintain the success!

If we were going to do a Leicester it would've been this season. No European games. Out of every domestic cup in January. Only league games from then on in

And we still f***ked up 4th

We're more Colchester than Leicester these days
