This sort of an article is precisely why I believe Arteta won't be sacked even if he finishes 8th for 2.5 seasons in a row. It's written in a way a blogger would explain tactics to his/her reader. I've rarely read such a discription in an official website.

As I've mentioned before, I have no issues if Arteta continues to be Arsenal manager for the next 5 years. However, I do have an issue with the propagandist attempts in making Arteta sound something he's not. If the Arsenal hierarchy want Arsenal to become Everton-under-Moyes, I don't have as much power to change that. What I do expect from fans is critical thinking. Fans can't control what the Kroenkes want, but they do have the right to speak freely and openly.

I've stated numerous times, from what it appears, that the Kroenkes simply want Arsenal to be consistent enough to challenge for the top-6. They thought top-4 was a piss-walk when Wenger was doing it. Post-Wenger, their recruitment—whether a chief executive, a DoF, or a head coach-cum-manager—symbolizes their desire to remain at the periphery of achievers regardless of any intention to be the achiever.

This post isn't about Lokonga btw. I haven't watched him play. I hope he turns out to be a world beater. Nonetheless, that shill of an article really sums up Arsenal under Arteta, and the era under Kroenke's total ownership.

Welcome to Arsenal, Albert.

Making the occasional EL run isn't financially sustainable when the roster is full of players on 100k and 200k pw salaries, and cost say £50m on average. Off the top of my head, that includes Partey, Auba, Willian, Laca, Pepe and Ben White. Pretty soon Saka and ESR will join that club.

It would be one thing if Arteta was gutting the squad and replacing it with cheap youngsters on a low wage bill. But he doesn't want Willock, Saliba, Nelson or AMN, and is instead going for expensive alternatives like Ben White @120k pw.

So I honestly do not know what the plan is besides chucking a bunch of cash at Arteta and hoping 3rd year's the charm.

Lokonga 6, Partey 8. Finally an Arsenal style CM pairing of the early Wenger era again!

Still hoping for Neves too.

Although the consensus appears to have this lad as a supplementary player for the squad, with hope and expectation still remaining that a ready made partner for Partey in properly anchoring the midfield in the shape of Yves Bissouma, I'm simply not convinced that will indeed prove to be the case.

I certainly wouldn't be complaining at seeing the sky sports caption of breaking news that we had once again pilfered the Brighton ranks for the Mali International, as such action would be reminiscent of the bygone days of the turn of the century.

However, mindful of the fact that we have one or two of our young players out of Hale End politely knocking on the first team door with genuine intentions to bum rush the party Saka style, I'm inclined to think that Sambi has with some justification been earmarked as a starter also capable of dovetailing nicely with the Ghanaian and not threatening to rip the guts out of our engine room come the African Cup of Nations in January/February, especially if they had managed to produce the A Star 1 stellar performances we but only regale the legend of nowadays.

Just watched his interview.

I don't know how good he will be but I will say his attitude is spot on, when asked who his favourite players were back in the day, not one AFC player named, that shows me he's not a suck up.

Very to the point as well, I like the guy, hope he does well.

Really good on the ball again. Genuinely a class above what we are used to in midfield in terms of confidence on the ball and wanting the ball.

DIff players though clearly, Sambi was solid, tidy and pumped balls over the top, exactly what we want.
