No ones belittling the win.

The concern is if we don't get our performances back to the level pre-Liverpool it won't be enough to beat tougher competition.

Our next games are Everton and Utd.

This is all depending on what starting 11 / system Arteta fields in those games.

Its up to him now.

Im belittling the win, we looked mostly shit and beat a club bottom of the table. Whoop de fuckin do!

Our attack looks stunted, we had ESR, Saka and Odegaard on the pitch and didn't create anywere near enough good chances for ANYONE to be satisfied with the performance.

Arteta is still all defence and not a bloody clue in attack

Our attack has been good for some time.
Since the first 3 games we have the 4th most creative team in the league - not far behind Man City and Chelsea actually.
Even with the first 3 games included we are the 7th best in the league for creating chances.

Yesterday we created a load of chances - good ones.
Only Liverpool created more than us in yesterdays games, and not by a lot, by a little. In fact we created more big chances than they did against Southampton.

Not sure what your are talking about.

Liverpool got 3.92 xG against us - top 6 competitors - the other day. We got 2.84 xG against Newcastle, a team with THE WORST DEFENSIVE RECORD IN THE LEAGUE and a team who are not even our size and should never enter any conversation with us because they are levels below us

Liverpool gave us more of a beating than we gave Newcastle, do you Arteta sympathisers not feel shame?!!

All LOWER xG than us vs Newcastle this season:
Chelsea 2.17
Man Utd 2.77
Aston Villa 1.18
Leeds 1.43
Watford 0.90
Spurs 1.55
Crystal Palace 2.26
Brighton 1.43
Brentford 1.23
Wolves 1.16

Going into yesterdays game the avg xG Newcastle had conceded per game was 1.88. We achieved a 2.84 against them.

Yeah, these people and their Arteta coloured glasses! We beat the club bottom of the league, whoop de f***ing do!

Good win and played well in the second half.
3pts and we move onwards and upwards.
Our manager has us challenging for the top 4.
At this stage this entire thread is a joke.

Its not until after Everton and Utd.

That 1st half was a pure regression to how we were playing before he switched to 4-4-2 and that four game win streak.

The next two games he needs to sort out how he wants this team to play, we got away with it against the bottom of the league team, against tougher competition we won't.

Glad with the win but it was mandatory, my concern is that general play won't beat better teams, the attack was weak apart from two moments of brilliance.

Don’t understand this nonsense downplaying who we beat every time we win a PL game. We are in the fight for top 4. Has anyone below had a much harder schedule than us?

Its not even the opponent.

Its the performance and how the team is set up, I want to see good purposeful play like all the good teams do.

Today in the 1st half we looked clueless because we couldn't find our one ST, the reason the level of opposition is important in that context is because against tougher teams we'd likely get punished.

The way he tried to make us play today we don't have the CF for hence why Auba was annonymous all game.

Well look, yes, first half was not good enough, but the second half was much better. In fact the second half was actually very good, all round, including creatively.
Even in the first half, we DID create an absolutely brilliant chance for Auba but he bloody missed it from a yard out.
In truth we did enough to win by 3 goals today and you can't really ask for much more against any opposition in the PL.

We can ask for much more!!! We played a team bottom of the table who have conceded the joint most goals in the league - 27 - when we played them. It should've been target practice, it should've been a game we make gains on our awful goal diff, it should've been like shooting fish in a barrell!

'Target practice'???
Get over yourself.
You are talking like you just landed in a space ship and had never followed the PL before.

In the 12 games prior to yesterday Newcastle have only conceded more chances than they did yesterday in two of those games.

Teams that created less than we did:
Chelsea
Spurs
Aston Villa
Manchester Utd
Leeds
Watford
Wolves
Crystal Palace
Brighton
Bentford

I don't care about what other clubs did or didn't do, we have a negative goal difference ffs!!

We created loads yesterday, more than most teams against Newcastle (including Chelsea).
You've lost the ability to think straight if you think the game was just 'target practice'.
Yesterday we helped our goal difference by +2. That is good.
I don't get the sense of belittling wins just because we got hammered by Liverpool and City.

We have improved as the season has gone on.
You need to get over a loss when they happen.

When we are conceding 4s and 5s I would suggest we haven't improved at all, these are not normal losses, these are the worst level Wenger losses

A club like Arsenal, the 3rd most successful club in England that considers it's peers to be Man U, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea should never be spanked by 4s and 5s, we should be beaten by 2 goals, a bad day a 3-1 loss max!!

These 4s and 5s are an embarrassment, its what you would expect a top team to beat a bottom team by, not your freekin peers!!!

We have 23 points in our last 12 games.

Arteta by a lot, 6 points in fact, which over a season is the equivalent of a 20 point gap.

He is behind Klopp though, by just 2 points.
We have the 4th best record in the league over the period.

We are 8 points better off than we were last season at the same stage.
We've improved where it matters.
We lost 4-0 to Liverpool at Anfield in Wenger's prime years.
We also lost 6-1 to Utd in those prime years
Lost 3-0 AT HOME to Middlesborough too.
All in the same year we finished 2nd.

Or how about 97-98 when we won the title - lost 4-0 to Liverpool at Anfield too... granted that was after we had already clinched the title... but you did say it should 'never' happen.

Or how about the 06/7 season, lost 4-1 to Liverpool at Anfield

Losing 4-1 AT HOME to Chelsea in the 08/09 season?

8-2 loss to Utd in 11/12 season?

13/14 season where we finished 4th?
Lost 6-0 to Chelsea, 5-1 to Liverpool and 6-3 to Man City

17/18 season lost 4-0 to Liverpool at Anfield.

18/19 season lost 5-1 to Liverpool at Anfield

Seems to me this has been happening fairly often over the last 25 years, including to one of (if not THE) best teams we've ever had.
But, Arteta, right?

f**k me Jay, you got the point!! Its not just about Arteta its about that dumbass Emery that continued to do the same and Wenger that started the trend. I never accepted we should be beaten by any peer by those ridiculous goal margins but what I did expect was whichever manager came in would pay a bit of attention to our defending.

Emery didn't. Arteta did and kudos to him, last season we didn't get any 4 or 5 goal spankings at all. But we are back to it this season.
