I'd take top 4 over FA cup this season.

We should be going for both

Shit Wenger with no money did it easily

Arteta spent the most last summer. No Europe this season. We should be going all out for this

Embarrassing tonight

No, top 4 is more important.

Our squad is decimated by the AFCON plus injuries and Covid cases ....... I think we should bail in the Carabao as well, only Prem games, we literally don't have the squad for any other competitions.

You play what you have and give it your best shot
Never give up on any competition

The last 3rd round exit was at forest in 2018
We have won the fa cup since then

Yes we have won it since then - and I think our manager was Arteta at the time.

That does not mean that we are happy to be out in the 3rd round now. A true Arsenal fan would want to go as far as possible in the cup. :arse flag.gif:

Happy?
No. Just pointing out that Arteta has actually won the FA Cup as our manager.
Process seemed to work quite quickly on that score.

He is doing what I EXPECT him to do, mostly, is this a stay of execution? Dunno, up to him really. Playing that fucktard Xhaka does not help his cause!

But under Arteta it was a pretty disciplined, robust and hard fought draw after we went down to 10 men.

The defensive side isn't the issue, Arteta since day one is a very micro managing, organised type of guy, defense was never going to be the big issue once he got his CB's in.

...........its the offense which is the concern, something we were getting some traction with prior to City but now we're struggling again and the mess we're in isn't helping.

We're very reliant on Saka and Martinelli having great games otherwise where's the goals coming from?

Laca isn't quite the right profile CF for the way we play but he's all we have and the goals from our no10's have dried up.

We need a CF who can score in our system i.e a bigger, taller target CF and it'd be nice for our no10's to chip in goals again, that with our wingers will get us back on track but we're off the curve currently due to our mess of a roster from absences.

I'm not fussed about the FA cup this year, would rather have less fixtures, if we finish in the top 5 i'll be happy with view of more progress to come.

Arsenal took just 6 points from the equivalent fixtures last season.

0 Burnley H
0 Wolves A
3 Brentford H (Sheff Utd)
3 Watford A (WBA)
0 Leicester H
0 Aston Villa A

Let's see how we do.

That should be a +6 point improvement at worst if the club wants to keep its top 4 hopes alive.

For the club's sake, I hope Ghana gets knocked out of AFCON early so Partey is back for Wolves.

I won't! Sacrificing cup tournaments to give us fewer games means top 4 must be the goal, anything less is failure that I would not be happy about.

Yep.

Anything less than top 4 is a resounding failure.

Thats your preference, i'd rather be in the champions league attracting that level of players than in the europa mediocrity.
