Top 4 was perfectly achievable had Arteta not been a f***ing pleb!

As it turns out just 6 points from the last 12 would have been enough to have us in the mix.
We've been shocking the last 4 games. Players don't seem to care.

Perhaps you should read the OP again.

Top 4 was most certainly a possibility.

That was then, this is now.

Burn it.

We can still finish above Spurs.
Run in remains important - every game.

When we've been mid-table all season and have a squad that's paper thin, to expect a decent run in was pissing in the wind. We're not managed well enough and several of our players simple aren't good enough ... that's the harsh truth.

So basically it wasnt possible for us since Arteta has been awful all season
point made.

It was possible... for a good team with a good manager. We dont have any of these two.

Wenger lost his job for missing top four.
Emery lost his job for missing top four.
And they were both far superior managers to Arteta.

A squad, not as good as the one we have now, went on a 20 game unbeaten run under Emery FFS.
That included a run of 9 wins and 3 draws in the PL
That kind of run would have secured 4th easily.

It's always possible for this club to go on a run of unbeaten games.

It seems to me that the team have actually given up on the PL. Perhaps they felt they could take their foot off the gas after listening to the type of fans who would chuck the towel in with 10 games to go on the PL.

I guess the team is getting ready for the final against Utd in the EL.

Thanks for backing up my point. Emery is a much better manager than Arteta, who has never managed before.

You lot are so small picture. Yes we’re under performing this season but we’re nowhere near good enough for top 4 right now anyway. What the board have decided is that they believe Arteta can get it right over time and with backing in the market, so far he’s had 1 proper window and we brought in two good players while using January to get rid of a lot of shit.

We all know this season is about the EL anyway and has been for 2 months (same as Wengers final season) so the league really doesn’t matter. Only disappointing thing is the half arsed squads...don’t mix and match them just play some kids and abandon ship so the big boys are fresh for the EL.

They will give him this summer unless there is some player revolt, they will give him money and he will kick off next season. Now if we’re not seeing a huge improvement and banging by October/November then he will be gone no doubt.

I know it’s not great and it’s annoying to have a written off season, we should be doing better regardless, but we need to massively improve the squad rather than spending all our money sacking managers year after year. I think we’ve been on the losing side of a lot of 50/50 calls this year, both from the officials and from within our own hands, and also dealt with a lot of shit like the Ozil saga, Auba’s new deal being a flop and Willian being a useless c***...the amount of chaos surely can’t be as bad or continue next year? If it does then it suggests there is a problem with Mikel himself but right now I think our main issue is the squad more than the manager and I’m hopeful next season will be much better.

I mean look at Sheffield United as an example, last year they were on the right side of every call, bounce and bit of luck and this season they’re on the opposite side and it’s killed them. Obviously not got the same club goals in the slightest as we have but the principle can still apply and hopefully we start turning our 1-0 losses into 1-0 wins next year.

And I will repeat, because some retards on here can’t seem to grasp it, I don’t give a flying f**k about Mikel. My entire reasoning since day 1 for ‘defending’ him is that I don’t think the squad is good enough in the slightest and I don’t think a revolving door of managers is a good approach. Yes we could have done better this season with someone else but It wouldn’t be top 4 and I doubt it’d last into next season, hence we might as well go with what we have and back our horse.

Lol, what?
We can disagree on that, so lets move to Arteta.
Last year we went on a run that included 6 wins from 8 games under Arteta in the PL.
The same run would have put us in 4th - or very very close to it with 2 games left.
We also had a run of 5 wins and 2 draws from 7 matches in the PL THIS SEASON.
THAT run would have put us in 4th with 3 games left to play.

You're still wrong.
It was absolutely possible with 10 games left to get 4th.
