Just putting credit where credit is due, the best team and the best manager won simple as that. They were supposed to be a pub team and we couldn't beat them, so the joke is on us, sadly.

The best team didn't win. The best manager won though.

Shockers galore

jay is the type of guy that trips over a wireless controller.

And yet he called the Auba situation loing before anyone else called it. Shit happens, who knew Areteta would be this level of shit !

Tbf cripss and I called arteta out VERY early on and we got alot of shit for it.
Remember all the discussion that you and I had in the first months of Arteta's arrival?

MASSIVE improvements they said!

And fair play, but at the same time I can understand those of us (me included) who thought it might turn out ok. We ALL thought so after our performances against the big 6 improved and we won the FA Cup. Who knew he would turn into an absolute cock 6 months later !!!

Bs.

You can't be so apathetic and dismissive of a half worthy opponent and get away with it.

Its not even about being right, its about the disgraceful attitude toward competition that im checking.

Wtf are we in 11th to be slagging off anyone??

Absolute circus.

Respect opponents, respect competition, we don't, thats why we are a fkin state.

DG - tell me what Villareal did across 2 legs that posed any sort of issue for us ?

Score more goals than we do :sneaky:

Those 2 goals were not a problem, we went into the 2nd game knowing one goal was all we needed to go through. We had 14 attempts with 2 on target yesterday and 9 attempts in the 1st leg with 2 on target. Arteta set us up to fail in both legs. Look at his bloody decisions yesterday, no Martinelli until 66 mins in, he then took Auba off who hit the post twice and brought on Laca.

We lost simply because in both legs we didn't have a CF and finisher on the pitch.
A false 9 and then a left-sided player at CF.

Martinelli should have started in the middle if Laca was not fit.

If fit, Martinelli left, Laca middle, Saka right - ALL DAY LONG.
But no, we relied on Pep's false 9 which we don't have the players for and a has-been wide player at CF.

We got what we deserved - going out to a truly poor team with a whimper.

2 absolutely shocking performances Jay. FFS, Coquelin ran the show yesterday. Arteta should walk for this, if he had any f***ing shame he would leave.

First leg: we had major injury problems. 2nd leg: midfielders sank the team. Ode and Partey slowed us down and we hardly got out of slumber.
Felt angry at Unai for destroying our midfield before leaving. Getting rid of Ramsey and Mikhi w/o finding any replacements. Haven't recovered from it yet.
Also, amazed at the rationale( Arteta &Co.) of handing the midfield to two unproven and dubious loanees, Ode and Ceb for majority of the season. What a disaster it has been.

We managed to create enough chances yesterday to win.
We had nearly DOUBLE the chances Villareal did - most of them created by our midfield.
We just didn't take them.
Doesn't matter how superior we are to an opponent, if we don't take our chances, we won't win.
Same happened last year against Olympiacos - and it was the same player who missed the big chances.
That was not really the fault of the midfield, although I would agree that Odegaard and Partey were shockingly bad.

Facts hurting you again?

14 chances compared to Villareal's 8.
Saka, Pepe and ESR top 3 players across both teams for chances created.
We lost because we didn't take our chances - simple. Two particularly - Auba, who had to apologise last year after missing a sitter as we lost to Olympiacos, missed an easy chance before he was hauled off and ESR. We had other chances too that were all squandered.
Villareal had 1 good chance in the entire game.
They were rubbish.

I can count, there is that.
14 chances to 8.
I can see, there is that too.
Auba missing another sitter that sent us out, just like last year.

Auba must be the only striker ever to have to score every chance he has.

How dare he not score 70+ a season?

Listen to yourself. This hatred has consumed you. Your beloved martinelli and Eddie have done f all this season to oust an off form Auba. He's still our best striker and only one who looked likely to score last night whilst your butt boys did f all and I'm a martinelli fan but he's done nothing this season.

And then Arteta takes Auba off when we need a goal. Auba showed v Benfica he can get a goal late on.

Who would you rather have to try and score? Auba or 2 ineffectual players?

That's on Arteta

You don't understand football. It's been proven time and again. This is just another case of it
