Sick and tired of this trend of drawing same oppositions every season in Europe, more or less.

10. Rangers
11. Roma
12. Shaktar
13. Slavia Prague
14. Tottenham
15. Villareal
16. Young Boys

That is entirely winnable.

There's no one on that list where we shouldn't feel we can win, even Utd.

Eh?

Milan, Ajax, Roma, Shakhtar, Slavia Praha, and Villarreal would easily beat us if we play like we did against Benfica.

Not fussed about ManU. But would like to avoid Spurs as Jose will troll the life out of Arteta over the two legs.

I'd like to see us against BSC Young Boys. Can't ever recall playing them. Starman?

No never played them
They gave Spurs a scare in a champs league qualifier a few years ago and have played Liverpool Everton and man Utd but not us yet

Thanks for confirming. :)

Is fate once again conspiring to tickle our bollocks before sticking 'em in the middle of an outsize edition of the King James Bible and slamming it shut?

Joy and pain, sunshine and rain. It becomes easier to fully appreciate one when you have experience of the other.

Every element of the Benfica game had a touch of fate about it. We should have completed the tie in the first leg but somehow effectively did everything to ensure that the second leg remained live.

Our home match being further from the Emirates than the away game and it being at that ground, almost gave it a feel of revisiting a crime scene.

Last years outcome and Sokratis now being part of their camp, and I'd bet a penny to a pound that someone at Villarreal wanted either of us too in order to settle a score of their own.

Each game as it comes and all that obviously with no getting ahead of ourselves is the order of the day, but in considering the possibility of reaching the final again, Villarreal would be my opponent of choice in considering the hand of fate, with Spurs second and Ajax third.

Snatching a draw from the jaws of victory with an embarrassing goal inflicted upon ourselves, along with a slightly less embarrassing miss right in front of goal and the denial of a clear penalty, should be ammunition enough for the manager to garner an appropriately fired up response from his players.

It should be stipulated at the least but moreover demanded by Arteta that victory alone is not enough to wipe the slate clean and that nothing less than a comprehensive performance to effectively win the tie in one sitting would be enough to square things with him and the fans.
