Theos Burden - The Weight that is TW14

Postby ke-goon » Mon Jun 30, 2008 10:19 am

So it has been confirmed by Arsenal.com that Theo will inherit the number 14 from the legend and superhuman that is Thierry. What does this mean to our little boy wonder? Will he crumble under the extra expectation of trying to fill the larger than life shoes of Henry? Will he prove his detractors wrong by going on to eclipse the man so many have come to compare him with?

It is my view that TW14 will be a legend in the Arsenal shirt and this surely will be his season to come of age and make good of the promise that we have all seen (barring an injury free season!). I have gotten a bit tired of arguing with ManU fans back here that in our current squad Theo is second only to Fabregas in terms of potential!

To the fans it gives us some sort of assurance that Wenger will not continue with his "Eboue is the next Ljungberg" project. He surely cannot burden Walcott that much and fail to give him the chance to prove himself.

Anyone willing to bet that TW14 will hit the 20 goals mark this coming season?

I'm willing to bet he won't get 20 goals.

Walcott won't score 20 goals because he won't be playing up-front all season... Maybe he could get to double figures?...

I feel that Wenger will deploy him upfront more. This is because Eduardo's return is still a bit way off, RvP is a bit fragile and we with Nasri and Vela coming into the wings Theo will have to be fitted somewhere.

Easy tiger...dem is fightin words :violent: :violent: NEVER call anyone a chavski fan dude, it's not right. I'd rather be accuse of buggering a badger that called a chavski follower.

The reason is simple, and elloquently put by All Arsenal, he will be playing on the wing and even Bobby at his best didn't get over 20 goals.

So, for every goal under 20 he gets, you pay me £5.00 for every goal over 20 I pay you £10.00?

That is exactly why i do not think Adebayors loss will devastate us because Walcott is capable of tiring defenders all day long as well as scoring goals. He cannot hold up the ball as well as Ade but i am sure Nasri can help him along with that (assuming he signs).

I agree Rev, but I don't see Walcott as a direct replacement of Ade. He has to play off a big center forward (step forward Bendtner?). We have been lacking directness at times in the last season and I believe that Walcott can offer that upfront.
