Pretty sure a grown Icelandic person who doesn't have a learning difficulty (or disability), who isn't fluent in English, doesn't exist tbh.
Icelandic people, in general, appear to be incredibly good at picking up new languages.
Back in 2013, after Eidur Gudjohnsen signed for Club Brugge, he appeared as a guest on
Extra Time (a programme somewhat similar to MOTD, but with weekly guests).
After its presenter finished welcoming him and addressed Gudjohnsen in Dutch, I was perplexed, thinking he had made a rather embarrassing mistake. No such thing, Eidur's Dutch turned out to be immaculate as he continued to answer every question effortlessly—in Dutch. He explained that he lived in Belgium for the first 8 years of his life because his father, Arnór, played for Lokeren and Anderlecht.
I was aware of his old man's history as a player in Belgium, as well as Eidur's spell at PSV, but never in a million years entertained the idea that—after all those years—he might still speak the language.
Arnar Vidarsson is another example. He's a former Pro League and Eredivisie player whose Dutch is flawless. If you didn't know the guy, and you'd have a conversation with him, you wouldn't even know he's foreign. His pronunciation is
that good. These days he works as an analyst/pundit for that same above-mentioned football programme.
