How many teams have we dropped points to this season who have an organised back four and play direct football?

Can’t think of any tbh. Most anti-football teams play a back 5.

Leicester probably your closest bet but they’re just a top team.

Looking at Raul's trend of managerial acquisitions, lads, if Arteta fails, next up, all aboard:

Arsenal needs to look closely at William and David Silva, both being free next season. They still have 2 good years in them and could solve the midfield problem for near future. If we spend about 30 mil on their wages for two years, send couple of youngsters, ex Willock on loan ( Mikhi sold and Ozil....well he doesn't play anyway) and manage to keep all the forwards, we could be in business for the near term. Meanwhile, look for or develop mainstay younger midfielders.
I believe your CBs look good when your midfield keeps the ball .

We need to stop being an OAP home for past it players. David Silva i'd take but he's off to Qatar or something isn't he for a payday in the sun?

Willian would be on high wages, Thiago Silva is past it (who wants a 35 year old CB in a team with a high line) and not sure what other frees are out there but unless they're sub 30 I wouldn't bother.

True, but we badly need couple of real midfielders. Our midfield is a big 0 , null set. That's why I suggested those two w/o any transfer fees. Both are top quality and still have a good two years in them.

Arsenal are going through a lean patch, and immidiate prospects look bleak. Rarely we had to settle for 8th-9th spot in nearly 40 years. Also, we cannot compete in the open market for players in their prime, like Coutinho costing 98mil and James Rodriguez also should be in the high sixties( Madison and Brooks will also cost hands and legs). So finding quality free agents and bargains from overseas is the order of the day. Arsenal need experienced top quality midfielders to stop the slide and get back into top four. But its no all doom and gloom. There are quality , experienced free agents available in the shape of Willian, David Silva( I've mentioned before), also there are players like Gundagon, a complete midfielder, who sits on the bench. These are very viable targets that should be looked into.
I looked up the South American market, and there are a plethora of talent that need to explored. There are at least 10-15 top prospects from Brazilian, Argentinian, Uruguayn, and Venezuelan clubs, who can easily fit in with us. Agreed their initial destination is usually Portugal or Spain, but through perseverance and good negotiation, they can arrive at Emirates
Their age ranges are from 18-25, and would cost anywhere from 10-30 mil, far less than EU markets.
Arsenal needs to move out Xhaka, Douzi, Musti, and Luiz, and also Ozil ( retirement pkg to free up space) and secure about 40-50 mil ( conservatively) in sales to start the rebuilding.
Regarding defense, there's rumour that John Stones might head our way. That would be great news. Mari, Holding, Saliba, Stones, w/ Sokratis and Chambers might form a good foundation, ( knock knock, stay healthy).
All we need is a bit of purpose and ambition from the management and hard work from the scouts, and we'll be up and running.
