I think we have capacity to be great again. We have a big fan base, we have the stadium, we have a decent crop of youngsters (saka, esr, martinelli) we have a big powerful CB and tenacious LB just coming in to their prime (gabriel, tierney) and we have a load of forwards fighting for places (auba, laca, martinelli, pepe, saka, willian). We have partey in midfield.

There is still a place in midfield next to Partey and maybe the spot Luiz and Holding are fighting for which lack quality. But those are two positions which could easily be filled in the summer (one of which by Saliba who we already have!)

Then the following summer we'd have our defence and midfield set and could look at spending on our attack to replace auba, willian and laca.

If we make the CL again and can spend a decent amount then that would change things too.

I reckon people said that when Rioch was in charge.

Every 4-5 years, there's been a temporary shift in the balance of power, which opens up a vaccuum at the top of the table.

- 2007-08: Mourinho meltdown #1, we miss out on the title under v. unfortunate circumstances
- 2013-14: 3/4 of Top 4 teams hired a new manager. We blew it.
- 2015-16: Mourinho meltdown #2, Pellegrini collapse; we still blew it
- 2020-21: Pool disastrous title defence, Spurs, Chelsea Arsenal all mostly outside Top 6, Moyes and Rodgers filling out Top 6

Opportunities to rearrange the table come regularly. We have yet to seriously take any of them.

15/16 will go down as the most disgraceful season in Wenger history and should've been sacked after that.

To finish above money bags City and Chelsea, 2 most successful clubs in England in Man Utd and Liverpool and a resurgent Tottenham and still not win the title is lolworthy

We signed no outfield player that season, I am pretty sure we was the only club in the top 5 european leagues not to sign an outfield player that summer, what was he thinking

Ach...height of sensationalism. Wenger to be sacked after coming 2nd in 15/16 ! Amazing! Like him being sacked so many times before for coming 4th!

To Leicester. Liverpool changed manager. City did. United did. Chelsea did.

Either during or after that season. We kept the joke

I just don't see the heart in this club anymore, the drive from the top.

Tbf Liverpool fans have been through what we have, however, they always had desire hence why, while they were being a bit crap they won the godamn CL.

Yes they needed a Klopp but the top brass at LFC are footballing men and want to win trophies.

Problem with AFC and its Prawn sandwich brigade and American owners is they are not footballing men, they could give two fks about trophies, its money first, football 2nd or even 3rd in AFC's case...... Money > Politics and egos > Football ...... in that order at AFC.

This brand of football we're stuck on, possession for the sake of it just fks me off, the amount of times our dipsh8t players just passed it back yesterday was just aggravating.

Possession is cool if your going to do it like how Barca used to, keep the ball then pass you to death with intricate deadly play in the final 3rd but even Barca aren't great at that these days.

I think we made a meal of Benfica when they were ripe for the taking, if our approach is causing easy games to become difficult then we will never amount to anything.

^ unfortunately wenger has sold a brand of football that only wins if you have the best players in the world (which we did in the invincible days). A large section of our fans won't accept anything but tippy tappy crap even if it means winning nothing! Hence managers are judged more on whether they are 'footballing' or 'negative' managers than if they are winners (e.g. a large section of our fan base wouldn't want Simeone).

Completely agree.

People were moaning about us playing 3-4-3 even though for the first time in a decade we were beating Liverpool x2, City, Chelsea and Utd using it.

Chelsea are currently using it and are 4th.

Tbf I don't mind the way we play I just hate that we're so cowardice with it by passing back and when we switch off being aggressive its paint dry football.

Unfortunately as far as a majority of this club is concerned, they were all raised by daddy Wenger and just can't accept another philosophy of football.

Let’s be a big fcking club and go sign Kane in the summer. Absolute scenes in north London. Would set off a civil war. Bring passion back to football.

That won't make us great again Swipey, scoring goals has never been a big issue for us, being one dimensional, being unable to defend, these 2 things are a far bigger problem.
