Very few players step up from "big fish in small pond" to "big fish in the biggest ocean" .... we keep expecting it to happen then are surprised when it doesn't. Partey is a decent player, with luck he will be a solid DM for the remainder of his contract, is he an EPL winning leader? There is nothing to suggest that so far. His game in Madrid was based around his ability to dominate an area of the pitch which, let's be honest, in 95% of Madrid games was under very little pressure ... that's just not the same in the EPL where almost without exception the midfield in 95% of Arsenal games is under enormous pressure, every poor touch, concentration fail, or bad decision is brutally exposed.

Partey is good, he could be very good, but right now he's still got a long way to go.

^ exactly this.
The Spanish league is dogsh*t and its a HUGE step up to the PL.
Still have high hopes for Partey, but he's no Vieira and he's not worth the 45m we paid.
I really hope he can toughen up and work on fixing some of his flaws - he has talent.
We just have to be careful about signing these players from weak leagues at inflated costs.

Looks class in patches.

Doesn't seem like he can last 90 minutes though. Slightly worrying

Only in patches though.
His second half was terrible.
Looking like another enormous waste of money.

Given we spent 45m on him, it's a real worry.
It's looking like we got duped again.

He's great on the ball with time and space, he's good at covering a man playing near him, however against mobile quality players who constantly switch positions he looks like a large child in a man's game.

The step up is obviously a big one and he will learn, but once again against a quality EPL midfield he came up well short.

One of them really he was always going to look better for Athletic than us considering how defensive they’re, put Elneny in that team and you’d add another 20M to his value

Had some quality moments in the first half but we were way too conservative.

Had some good moments, had some poor moments. Lest we forget he joined us in late January, he will be fine.

Looking worse by the game, dispossessed a good few times and a lot of stray passes, he looked better when he supposedly wasn't fully fit.

meh game, some good moments, some shite. he's had an interrupted season with injuries.

had fuk all injuries at atletico and suddenly comes here and starts racking them up.

45m is just about right price in current super inflated market. ateltico fans on reddit valued him around 80m+.

he was really crucial for them which is why they were pissed off at how 'cheap' he went for.

Another one of those players whose reputation grows the less he plays.
