Could have said the same about Diaby or Wilsh.

Agreed. He was very good in a few games this season, but it's not enough. He joined in 2020, not last year, so it already took a while to show his talent.

He's the highest earning member of the squad at £200k pw. We can't be paying that for a player that's only available half the time.

Could have. But they were more extreme in terms of fitness challenges.

Sorry, gotta say, looks like you're just trying to score cheap points there. Like you said, who knows... Arteta uses the same tech every other manager uses these days, so doubt you'll see a player forced to play beyond what the data has shown to be their peak performance times. If players drop off physically beyond a certain time, the staff will all know this.

As for Partey personally, he's one of the oldest in our squad. He's seasoned enough to know how his body responds to training.

And being forced to stay on, I'd be pissed at anyone who turns their back on a counter attack. Anyone can last til the next break in play.

I dont talk hearsay, I talk facts!

Taken from the link:

Arsenal’s Thomas Partey suffered a recurrence of a thigh injury in their 2-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur, manager Mikel Arteta said.

The Ghanaian, who cost Arsenal 50 million euros ($60.69 million), injured his thigh last month and only returned to the side on Sunday.

Partey pulled up injured shortly before halftime and was standing on the touchline when Spurs broke from their own box.

Arteta then urged him back on to try to stop the counter-attack but the midfielder could only run a few yards before stopping.

“I was trying to push him but I don’t think he realised the gravity of the situation when he left his position but that was probably because he was in a lot of pain,” Arteta told reporters.

Don't you think an international footballer knows when they are injured?? Dont you think if they are able to play they would stay on the pitch and wait for the game to be stopped? Dont you think an experienced player knows more about him being injured than "stats"???

So you are telling me a player is injured but, dont worry, the data says he can still play on, so lets ignore what the player is feeling !!!!

'theHotHead' indeed... love the passion broski :Peace:

You're absolutely right, he's a seasoned professional and he knew he was damaged. He tried to get off the pitch because he knew he couldn't play on.

But 2 things...
1, in the heat of the moment, what manager wouldn't be shocked at their player leaving the field during a counter attack? I'd expect the same reaction from any manager.
2, if you can't move, don't move. Sit down in the hope that maybe play might be stopped, don't hobble off and effectively give your blessings to the 11 man opposition to romp forward.

Ultimately, there's nothing he could have done. He wasn't at fault for the goal because the counter attack didn't go through him. There's no blame on him. But if you're trying to say that him being pushed back on the pitch to hobble for another 3 more seconds is what caused the severity of the injury, or if that's your proof of mismanagement, then we're not really talking facts are we?

You've taken a nothing situation and used it to attack the manager.

Yes, Partey should've gone down where he was to stop the game but he didn't, perhaps he thought the play being in the other half of the pitch - us being on the attack - was a good time to do it.

But for ANY manager to PUSH an injured player back on the pitch with the player himself saying he needs to come off and knowing he had only just come back from an absence due to the SAME INJURY - that shows the manager is a f***ing idiot ! Nothing situation my arse ! It was a significant situation. Its mis-management because you don't urge or push an injured player to keep playing. Those "3 secs" of additional running while injured can EASILY be the difference between a slight tear and a major tear !

He previously missed 2 league games because of the same injury, as a result of the recurrence of the injury he missed 6 league games. There is a FACT for you.

Yeah he’s our key midfielder no question, he makes the difference in midfield for us.

His main thread is reopened so don't need the other one.

But as Swipe said, one of our most important players when fit, so tbf due to his injury record we do need to buy cover.

Artetas system doesn't work without a proper CDM.

Also we haven't won 2 games out of 3 without him in the PL.

We won one, lost one, the other game was Zurich which doesn't count a prem game and Partey wouldn't of played in that game anyway as its beneath him, it's for the 2nd string.

World class player. Quietly goes about his job. No one is cutting through our midfield with him around. He has more to his game than shielding the back line but with Xhaka having to be baby sat that’s what he has to do.
