Doubt it he’s earning 3 times more here

Footballers want honours. He was well off there too.

No he wasn't. He broke through with Saul and co and everyone got newer contracts and salary boosts over the years whilst they never bothered with him until other clubs starting looking at him. He was underappreciated which is one of the reasons he wanted to leave. The contract they offered him wasn't much either in terms of improvement as their intention was to increase the release clause.

Btw salaries matter mostly when u compare them to the other footballers u work with.
Even 20k a week is more than enough to be well off as a footballer.

He seemed to have improved in the past few games, but so have most others. Hardly says much when the train has left the station.

Not the point. I said he was well off you suggested he wasn't.

Footballers live in a different world than us. If you ask a millionaire if he feels poor then he will say yes as their eyes will be fixed on those billionaire. They don't care about the viewpoint of those on 20k a year and how they view millionaires as being well off. Different perspective.

Totally agree. But Torreira was played in his primary role, Partey has had to deal with playing next to Xhaka, Ceballos and Elneny, trying to cover them defensively (Ceballos and Xhaka) and providing some kind of offensive impetus (load redu ced by having ESR in the team.

Partey has proved across multiple seasons his true level, its down to Arteta/whoever the manager will be next season to let him play his game.

Partey is a world class CM.

And if you ask footballers what they'd prefer; making 20m over the course of their career with 0 trophies to their name or 10m with 6 trophies to their name they'd pick the latter.

Big stars like partey are in the top 1% financially regardless of whether he plays for atletico or arsenal.

Whether Partey is world class or not will be revealed next season. So far he has been pretty mediocre. The speed and toughness of the PL will test him in good measure for sure.
I expected him to be at least a better shot where he has failed badly too. Not a single shot within the posts...rather disappointing.

You are comparing him to everyone, doesn't matter if top 1% or not, you should be comparing him to his peers.

Also, That's not the case for all footballers. Hulk, Oscar and numerous others who are good players left for the Chinese money instead of fighting for trophies.
And you make it sound like we don't win anything. We picked up an fa cup and community shield (regardless of what you think of it) recently.

At atletico, they won the l league this year sure, but real and Barca will spend and they'll be back in 3rd place again.

Your argument only works if he moved to some perennial bottlers like spuds

Alexis, that sounds like the rant of someone who doesn't live in the real world ! You live to your means, some people live beyond their means. Nobody ever has enough money, is it greed ? Not really, its a normal human goal/desire.

Did you not want to earn more money than you earned in your first job ? Did you not do training to help you get more skills that made you more appealing to employers? When you earn more your taste changes, you no longer shop at the same stores, you no longer buy the same food or eat at the same restaurants. Before you know it, you are swigging champers and buying designer gear and driving nice cars. You go on expensive holidays, the 3* hotels are no longer good enough, you want the 4 and 5* hotels. Past that you rent a sunseeker and invite your mates and friends.

Inevitably you move past that too and it keeps growing and changing, it has nothing to do with being a greedy f**k, people want more, once you experience having more you want more still, its what drives us as human beings, to achieve. That £5m yacht becomes a £30m yacht, that £2m flat becomes a £10m house in the country, etc etc etc.

Its important to understand the distinction between striving for more/bettering yourself and a selfish desire to have more even though you don't need it. I think the simplest way to define greed is eating past your belly being full !

Arsenal are comfortably ythe bigger club, but Athletico are in a positive period in their history. They have a good squad and great manager, they have the capacity to battle for the biggest trophies right now, we are nowhere near that level.

Arsenal is the bigger name, I guess the lure of a club depends on what you hope for. Top players joined Liverpool and Man U when they were not winning stuff, Bergkamp joined us when we were going nowhere fast.
