He will be fine. But the execution of whatever gameplan we deployed left him isolated. Couple that to by far his worst performance for us and you get that steaming pile of poo we just saw.

But he is quality so im not worried, he will be fine.

He needs better players around him, consistent and disciplined tactics in the team with a coach who knows what he's doing and he'll excel.
He's not a player who will stand out and excel in all circumstances. He's a worker bee who will be a reliable hub in a well thought out system with a clear tactical goal in mind.

We're all over the place tactically and most of our players have a shit mentality.
Just imagine coming from a high intensity team like Athletico to this. No wonder he looks lost.

Guess what? When you cost that much, the better player is you .

We didn't say Auba needed better players around him, because he was getting results with or without a midfield. Same with Alexis.

I expected Partey to be much stronger defensively. We are after all in need of a defensive mid.

Instead his best qualities appear to be the occasional through ball that Luiz can do 3x in a game.

We paid 50m and pay him 12m a year - how many "better players" can we afford to buy? For that money he should be the stand out, drive them forward, make things happen, player not just a bloody worker bee ....

This is our problem - to many supposed stars on massive wages who still need their nappies changing - that's simply not good enough.

Another example of paying big money for players totally unproven in the PL.
He's not good enough. If he was young, then maybe some of his flashes of class would be encouraging, but's he's 28 in a months time.
Just another in a long list of disastrous signings.

This guy was dominating miss against Barca and real. He was motm when atletico kicked Liverpool out of Europe, yet peeps here think he ain't good enough.

He was an absolute baller in the first few games. It's clear he's been arsenalised and has somehow turned shit. It's down to the manager coaching him and asking him to do shite he's not suited for and not having a decent partner beside him.

I couldn't give a f**k what he has done previously for other clubs.
At PL level he's been poor - for us.
He just doesn't get the time and space he needs at this level - it's not the same as playing in Spain or the CL.

His passing beyond 5 yards when he's under pressure is cack.
His shooting is cack.
His ball-winning is cack.
His ball retention is cack.

I was hoping he would be better next season, but seriously, some of the flaws are glaring and hard to ignore.

He absolutely dominated Liverpool in that atletico team. You know the team that was cl champions and went onto win the pl that same season.
Unless you think Liverpool weren't the pinnacle of pl level at the time, then your argument falls flat.

I'm confident he will be good under a manager who actually knows what he's doing and has the track record to back it up.

European football is not the same as the PL.
Also, once again, I don't care what he did for another club.
He's going to be 28 in a month. What he did in his earlier career vs Liverpool is irrelevant.
What he did for us THIS year is - and he has been rubbish.

Really don't know why some people pretend that players are good enough. It's a form of denial.

Well looking at a players history shows you if they are good enough, partey has played against the best players in LA Liga and come up against a top Liverpool side in the CL and stood out, even if you say he can't cut it in the EPl why is he looking so out of place against a Spanish side?
Also look at other players, being EPL proven isn't a given either, Alexis Sanchez went from being one of the best players in the EPL with us one season to absolute dross at United, did he really lose all of his talent in the space of 3 months? Doubtful

The Alexis situation was simple. He was physically done after 4 years of nonstop football at Arsenal and for the Chile NT. He also said in his apology video to Utd fans that on day 1 of training, he had second thoughts. The mood at the club under Jose was pure death and he asked his agents if it was too late to go back.

Think you're completely missing what the challenge of the EPL entails compare to other European leagues ...

Yes no question Partey has performed well in the odd big game that he played in La Liga or in European trophies ... but that's the point it's the "odd big game" most games he played at Atlético Madrid were against championship level sides ... so why does that matter?

Well for Atlético Madrid and Ghana he comfortably managed well over 3,000 minutes in his last three seasons, in three years he missed just 1 game with a mild hamstring injury.

In the EPL however there are no easy games, every game is a big game especially when you're at what is supposed to be an elite top six side, every team you play will have quality players, it's tough.

So compare his history to his first season with Arsenal he's managed (assuming he plays all the rest) under 2,000 minutes and has missed 17 games through three different injuries.

It's why UK sides are now starting to dominate in European competitions, the superior fitness and having to play big games once or even twice a week has raised their game ... Partey will have learned a lot but against that he will be 28 next season not getting any younger.

I hope he will step up, he certainly needs to do better, the learning for us is that "top" players in lower leagues are never guaranteed to be top players in the EPL, it's now a sizeable step up.

Partey has hugely under delivered this season.

the speed of play in the PL is some way ahead of what he is used to and this is reflected in the number of times he has been dispossessed, shot too quickly or passed the ball away to the opposition because of being under pressure.

I disgree it's down to poor management. a player doesnt need to be managed to pass a ball to a teammate, keep possession or shoot on target. Theyre the players responsibilities.

He needs to get to the pace of PL games from next season or we will see more of the same.

BTW - 3 english clubs in the European finals - confirms the difference in class between English league and the rest of Europe. it's down to pressure and pace. New arrivals from non-English league clubs are struggling with it.

Exactly.

We must not rely on performances in weaker leagues to judge players and their value.
Our scouting team needs shooting.

But then how do you judge players? As we've seen there have been good players in the EPL switch clubs and then not be the same, there has also been players signed from foreign essentially poor leagues and been revelations, if I'm not mistaken from the invincibles squad only sol Campbell was purchased from a fellow EPL side.
