Yes.
Arteta has shifted the roles in midfield slightly.
Partey is playing deeper and it’s benefiting his game.
It’s also helped Xhaka.

Its def better for Xhaka, he is a ball playing CM and is less of a red card liability going forward so it was the right thing to do, Partey is strong in possession and can tackle much better without fouling, he's a midfield enforcer and ball carrier, Xhaka always had a rough time trying to be a reliable defender, he tries too hard and can get frustrated making rash tackles on the last man.

He is capable of defending its just better for Xhaka for that not to be his sole responsibility.

Its not however made Partey a better player, he's just been put in a role that suits his attributes more ......... attributes he always had, hence why I didn't agree with Phil about Arteta getting any credit for development.

We bought Partey as a ready made player, nothing wrong with that.

The difference with this guy (apart from his shooting) is the talent was always obvious for me, it was simply his form from all the stops and starts.

One of the best CM's in the premier league.

Whether its Liverpool, Utd, whoever, if he's on form he's the most dominant CM on the pitch.

Was gonna say the same thing, he should be replaced they said :rofll:

......... Phil this is Thomas Partey.

He wasn't exactly a scrub before he got here, hence why we bought him. :rofll:

Def the wrong player to be trying to play the development card, I think he was already pretty good at Atletico mate.

He was never not good, he just had injuries etc since being here, couple of so-so games but all in all whenever he's had time to gain form he's been excellent.

He was wholly inconsistent at Atletico. That's why they were willing to sell him and why we got him for that price. He has also seriously struggled to adapt to the PL.

So yeah - some credit has to be given to the manager for buying him and getting him to the level of performance and consistency we're currently seeing.

As I say, if he was playing shit Arteta would be blamed for buying him and for his performances.

Doesn't deserve a thought out and reasoned response, this. If Partey was so inconsistent why did he play a minimum of 32 La Liga games in his last 3 full seasons at the club ? Simeone doesn't do mediocre.

Dreadful but without him we have Lokonga who isn’t good enough for the PL.

One of the worst performances I have seen from any Arsenal player.

Wonder if it was a hangover from celebrating scoring the Ghana winner that got them into the World Cup?!

As bad as he was, Lokonga was not the right substitution. It should have been Elneny. Lokonga looks too nervy to be effective late in the game when we needed to find a goal.

I thought Lokonga was actually decent for once. Made one or two passes that we should have made more of and he wasn't passive. We were just shit in attack.

Lakonga looked a class act earlier in the season, if a bit raw, and was good when he came on yesterday.
No problems with him at all.
He'll need to grow up fast in the PL though if Partey is injured.
Top talent.
