That is where the scouts earn their money.
It's up to them to highlight the players that will work well in the PL.
Clearly, some players are cut out for the PL from foreign shores (although we have far too many foreigners in the PL). If the scouts can't find them they are not very good at their job.

For players like Partey, I hear a lot about how good he was in La Liga, but actually, when looking at his numbers he wasn't particularly good. For example, he was not as good as Ndidi at Leicester, a much younger player and proven in the PL. Why are we paying 43m for Partey when players like Ndidi are floating around? OK, so we might not have been able to get Ndidi (although I rather suspect a 30m bid would have secured him), but there are others, including la Liga with much better numbers. Emerson at Betis for example, just 22 yrs old now.

We pissed away 43m on a player who didn't have outstanding defensive or offensive numbers in a weaker league.

Can understand why we bought him, we needed a steel spine and he was supposed to be the centre of it. It hasn't worked out very well so far.....he certainly doesn't look the quality player we thought we were getting. I'm prepared to give him some more time, although its not like we have a queue of alternatives anyway!

The first few games he played before his injury he looked a cut above the rest, didn't he get MOM against man utd? After the injury though he has been garbage, unfortunately though so has everyone else which can't have helped.

Yep, adapting to a new team and a new league and been faced with such a disjointed season through injuries. Have to say he’s been disappointing overall but there have been flashes of his brilliance.

What I will say is that he’s still probably our best midfielder so was an upgrade anyway but I don’t think he’s this DM rock that people imagined because he’s big and black...he’s much more of a B2B and ball playing midfielder. I’d be worried if he was the sole defensive midfielder with 1 more attacking CM next to him if I’m honest.

Nothing to do with managers apparently.

We did sign Martin keown from Everton
But he had started at Arsenal before we sold him to Aston Villa
David seaman was signed from qpr
But he only played in the second game of the unbeaten 49 at Sunderland and was not a part of the league winning side of 03/04
