Seeing PEA track back and make defensive tackles was great, and I want players like Ozil to do more of that. If our 19 goal striker could contribute defensively then so can Mr 1G 1A.

Then he blocked Xhaka's transfer to Hertha Berlin in Jan.

And continued playing PEA out wide.

After he kept Laca on for 105 mins in the Olympiakos fiasco, I was done. EL was more achieable than Top 4 and he blew it.

We only have the FA Cup left now. I'd trust Ancelotti to do a far better job in cup competitions than Arteta.

Okay, Arteta lets Xhaka move to Berlin in January. Who do we have to play in Xhaka's position?

Torreira. Even if Arteta had a crystal ball and saw him getting injured a month later, he could have put David Luiz there; Luiz is a far better passer of the ball, and honestly I hate seeing him as CB, he's a total liability there.

Most of this forum has wanted Xhaka gone since 2017; the player himself wanted to leave. A gold plated opportunity was handed to Arteta and he said no, following the same path of Wenger and Emery in trying to make this guy fit into our style of play.

How about Torreira or Luiz both much better options.

Xhaka is just very negative, he hinders our play he doesn’t help it.

I will agree with you here, I can't find a reason Xhaka is played, I really can't. If you want a DM, play Torreira. If you want legs in midfield, play Guendouzi. Ok, we have been short of fit CBs so I can understand why he has not played Luiz as DM, that and Luiz is our best CB.

The ability of Xhaka to spread the play does not outweigh or even match his ability to be a dumbass/lose the ball/be slow as f**k.

Yeah but at least he lost to the Champions elect and not to some Mickey Mouse team who had won 1 away European game in their last 11.

No, he didn't lose to the champions elect, he lost to their U23s team!! Far worse a loss than ours, incomparable actually. In fact the only starter from the champions elect team was Joe Gomez:

Liverpool
13Adrián
76Williams
47Phillips
12Gomez
7Milner Substituted for Larouci at 9'minutes
20Lallana
68Chirivella
48Jones
67Elliott Substituted for Brewster at 79'minutes
18Minamino Substituted for Oxlade-Chamberlain at 70'minutes
27Origi
Substitutes
10Mané
14Henderson
15Oxlade-Chamberlain
24Brewster
51Hoever
62Kelleher
70Larouci

Not really no, our loss was at home, Olympiacos were awful and they still beat us!

I'm pretty confident that Liverpool side would have beaten Olympiacos at home as well, they'd lost 10 of 11 away matches as mentioned before.

Who cares if Everton got knocked out by Liverpool B?

Their A team was knocked out by Chelsea. Does that mean Lampard > Klopp?

I hate bad faith comparisons like this. Do you think Ancelotti is going to line up an Arsenal squad with the PL's leading scorer (and Golden boot winner) the same way he does for a team with Dominic Calvert Lewin up top?

What does that have to do with anything? You laugh at the comparisons but then put forward the argument about "what Ancelotti would do", like you have the slightest idea what he would do or what would happen in a hypothetical match between Arsenal and Olympiacos - with Arsenal managed by Ancelotti. In fact, the only piece of fact here is that Ancelotti's Everton lost to Liverpool's U23s. You can hypothesise all you want, it doesn't make it fact.

Mourinho with less points, more conceded and less clean sheets than Sherwood did in the same time as Spurs boss - and he had Kaboul & Dawson in defence

Ancelotti falling apart as soon as they faced a decent side and have looked dreadful for weeks

only one man winning this race

Beat the best team in the country in midweek as well, clearly on a hot streak of form.

That’s the trouble with a young team, it’s ups and downs they can be great for a while, then terrible for a while then great again, was always going to happen.

There are four elite-tier managers in football today: Pep, Klopp, Simeone, and Conte.

If City beat Real and Atleti get past 'Pool, one of these two teams are winning the UCL. The other is winning the EL or the Scudetto. The only person standing between Simeone and the UCL is CR7. Let's see. Interestingly, CR7 is also the only guy between Conte and the Scudetto.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta, claim your throne.
