We can surely upgrade upon the junk midfield we have right now. We badly need a ball player, and I think Silva, ( if we get CL , maybe through EL) will consider Arsenal , given good wages and w/ Arteta in charge.
Right now Arteta or even Freddie doesn't have much choice given the personnel we have. None in the midfield can dribble and hold on to the ball, none can even get to scoring positions like Ramsey or have a clean shot at goal. When Xhaka scores , it is usually a collector's item, and an exception.
I think with our brand we can still attract some quality players ( S.America or EU) but we need to spend. Maybe Edu can wave his magic wand and find another Martinelli in the middle. Never say never!

Its hogwash that there are no players around, there are tons of them, just need to use our brains.

Next season I expect our defending to be at the, level it should be. I would prefer a bigger and stronger DM than Torreira, Guendo isn't ready yet for the box to box role and we may need to replace Ozil if we can't get the best out of him.

Players are out there and we don't need to spend silly money to get them.

Dodged a bullet with Mou.. Some of Arteta’s subs have been questionable but Mou has been shocking.

Mourinho has no decent strikers fit, doesn’t exactly have a flood of options.

Most points other than Liverpool or city since he came. Well that was the case before today.

Hardly shocking. Tottenham were awful under pochettino this season. Jose has a lot of work to do and hopefully he fails.

Weird how you don't consider the shocking results under the previous manager in your evaluation of Arteta's work at Arsenal.

Cos he doesn't have the most points other than the top 2 since he joined?

Cos we weren't 14th?

We've shown no improvement. Our football is worse. It's not rocket science.

Under Emery, we were 8th after 13 PL games. Players had given up, manager is toxic, etc.

We're 10 PL games into Arteta's reign and sit 9th with the exact same squad that is apparently playing for the manager.

Like it or not, Jose is doing a lot better even without any fit goalscorers.

Well given how most on here used to cream themselves over how much better spurs squad was than ours, is it a surprise? Also if we win our game in hand we’d be level with them so then f***ing what?

Mourinho with his 20 years experience level with a rookie manager, sounds good to me.

On top of this, you can't compare a side that has been a regular in the top-4 under Poch and reached the UCL Final to a side that has been on a "downward spiral" for nearly 4 years now.

So, what narrative are we going for? People can't pick all the cherries they want. Either Arteta deserves time and we need to be patient, or Arteta is so bad that he's made us worse and his predecessor did a good job here only to be undone by Arteta's incompetence. So, which one is it?

That is, indeed, if we will win the game in hand

We won't

Both.

Arteta so far has made us worse. Worse league position, and eliminated against olympiacos. Olympiacos ffs.

He should of never have given the job. But he got it, so we will just have to ride it out.
