I kinda agree with Swipey, Mari looked comfortable in his first few games and then nothing special afterwards, he came from Brazil, why did he get a chance and Saliba didn't ?! Mari started games, Saliba didn't even get a call up.
The only reason Marí was given a chance is because Gabriel was out with a knee injuiry. As soon as he returned, Marí got dropped and struggled to even make the bench.
Our 3 backup CBs (Marí, Holding, and Chambers) have barely played this season. Following the arrival of White and with no European football Saliba would likely have met a similar fate.
Having already made 20-something appearances, and providing he stays healthy, Saliba will play 40-45 games for Marseille this season. That's surely got to be more valuable than him spending 90% of the season warming Arsenal's bench?
