Jens to Stay

Jens Lehmann has confirmed he will spend another season at Arsenal, rather than return to the Bundesliga.

The veteran goalkeeper's contract expires in the summer and Hertha Berlin were keen to take Lehmann back to Germany.

His future at Emirates Stadium appeared sketchy as Arsene Wenger offered a 12-month extension, while the former Borussia Dortmund shot-stopper wanted a two-year deal.

However, Lehmann is now ready to compromise by signing a one-year deal to ensure he can play in the UEFA Champions League next season.

"I will play another season for Arsenal," Lehmann told Bild. "It is a big club with sporting perspectives."

On only being offered a one-year deal, the keeper added: "That is not a problem.

"I do not necessarily have to extend for two years. For me, it depends on playing in the Champions League in the coming season.

"I wouldn't like to sit in front of the TV on Wednesdays."

Prior to reaching a decision on his future, though, Lehmann acknowledged he did consider moving back to the Bundesliga.

He said: "I had thought over a return."

Great news that Jens is going to accept the one year deal on offer, however i hope this does not hinder Wenger in still looking or possibly signing a replacement in the summer transfer window.

Kick ass!

Somehow, knowing Wenger, I think that we won't be getting a replacement this season. Unless it's of the 'young, under development' type. Maybe he'll try and get someone to sign a pre-contract or something.

To be honest, i'd sooner see Almunia as our number 1 next season.

He's a decent enough keeper, good temperament on him, and he's passionate too - without being an idiot.

As much as I love Jens, i think it's time for him to move on.

I really don't see what you see in him he loses you as many games as he wins you.
There are a lot of good young keepers that would jump at the chance to join arsenal.

BOTH HIM AND ALMUNIA ARE BRILLIANT KEEPERS BUT BOTH ARE AT TIME CLUMSY AND CRAZY AND MAKE STUPID MISTAKE WHICH HAVE COST US DEAR IN THE PAST.

Even Van der Sar has made some errors this season. I'd say that up to the last two weeks, Jens has been the most reliable keeper in the EPL.

Van Der Sar is far more SANE compared to Mad Jens. Mad Jens has received 11 yellow cards, he's the laughing stock for goalies among commentators, I am proud that he is a wonderful goalie, but I'm not shy too admit that he has a stupid attitude when he's on pitch. He necessarily creates problems and tension during corner kicks, and it pisses me off, cuz his actions are often time unwarranted.
