Arteta: What is acceptable this season?

Postby Pat Rice in Short Shorts » Sun Dec 22, 2019 6:00 pm

For me catching/surpassing Spurs, finishing in the top six and simply finding a coherent system that fixes the propensity to give away cheap goals and get far more chances for us is reasonable.

Next year I'd expect the real overhaul to begin. Deadwood and those who don't buy in out, a few new players in. Quicker play, tougher play and energy. Back to the CL? I would hope so but the likes of Mourinho will also be improving. Perhaps another FA Cup?

Im confident we'll finish in a respectable position

Next season CL is doable, and its up to Arteta and the club as a whole to achieve that and draw a line under this shit show

Work ethic, I would like see a high pressing game especially at home, we need to be on the front foot, the first thing we have to do is make the Emirates an uncomfortable place to come to.

Yeah for me at the end of the day progression and performance takes precedent over results in this short term

Our players look lost, if we can look like we’re driving towards something good then it’s the best we can hope for

As it stands, I’d accept top half of the table, I just can’t see how any manager could turn our current bunch of players, (with the attitude they have) into anything much better than that.

I live in hope though.

Top 8 and a sign of a decent playing style. I think we can still sneak top 4 if he hit the ground running but that’s a real optimistic hope rather than an expectation.

I’m not sure we can do well enough consistently to overhaul Wolves and Sheff Utd the way they’re playing, both are solid and hard to beat. Hence my realistic expectation is somewhere between top 6-9 behind any of United, Sheffield and Wolves. Liverpool, City and Leicester go without saying while Chelsea and Spurs look tough to keep pace with.

Oddly enough the one I’m most confident in finishing above is United.

Personally want to concentrate on home form, even as a ok team we should be difficult to play against ar home, I accept we will take Ls away from home with this squad even if we had klopp or pep.

I got 2 C's in english tbf, one was on Shakespeare which is pretty hard, I am on a little phone so it's easy to type the wrong letters, I am a bit last to always proof read it.
