Mkhitaryan and UEFA Disgrace

Postby MattManc » Tue May 21, 2019 12:40 pm

This is bigger than football it is about freedom and values. If all the major European clubs threatened to pull out of Europe next season and start their own alternate competition UEFA may back down but it won't happen, I don't know if any other clubs have even made any noise about it but this could happen to any club. Arsenal and Chelsea have a duty to their shareholders and aren't going to risk losing a potential £100 million champions league campaign next season seeing as English clubs have a really good chance of getting far based on this seasons form.

Basically UEFA are a disgrace and should make a statement to the world by moving the final to elsewhere but they probably won't as money talks as usual.

So, if it is to go ahead as planned, it would be nice to see Arsenal and Chelsea fans unite in showing their disgust to the world TV cameras throughout the game by displaying neutral coloured banners and scarfs etc......they could produce rainbow coloured Arsenal and rainbow coloured Chelsea scarfs to show that no matter what colour your team wears, what colour people skin are or no matter where they are from they are equal.......every TV commentator throughout the world would have to explain the scarfs. Both clubs could easily afford to make 5000 of these each and give out to the fans for free

Arsenal also didnt do enough IMO.
We knew it would of been played in Baku at the start of the season. Why only make a stupid statement now?

On principle alone I would rather we just boycotted the game now and highlight UEFA for the mockery they are.

Thats why clubs should of been a collective force and protested right from the get go.

Releasing a silly statement 2 weeks before the final makes you just look stupid.

There were enough straightforward ways to get there then and we didn't have any gouging local hotels. Clearly they logistically cannot cope for 60,000 Englishmen to come over.

There's not even 10% of that number heading over.

Had UEFA taken a hard stance on the issue, they would have been accused of taking sides on geopolitical issues.

No they would be taking a stance on racism/xenophobia. A country which specifically bans certain nationalities from entering should not be allowed to host a multinational event.

Scenes when UEFA has the 'Say No to Racism' banner trotted out.

A more accurate representation would be '$a¥ ₦o t¤ Ra€i£₼'.

Make no mistake, this is Mkhitaryan boycotting Azerbaijan. The Azeri govt has already issued multiple statements guaranteeing his safety but Mkhi chose to put politics before football. People can say what they like but this is nothing less than a betrayal to Arsenal fans if we lose because of this. It's just sad his dislike towards Azerbaijan is so overwhelming that he can't even set foot inside the country.

He's being paid to play and there is 0% chance that his life is in danger. Israelis for example have played under worse conditions and in more hostile countries and nothing has happened. We're almost certain to lose now because Mkhi is such an important player. So frustrating!

0% chance that his life is in danger? Well that's not exactly true is it.

And the second sentence is just as big a pile of bollocks as the first.
