James Olley: Arsenal close on William Saliba transfer. Saint-Étienne are demanding £26.5m and a loan for the following season before Saliba moves to North London in 2020. Arsenal are not keen on the loan but do not want to lose the player to other clubs.

Raul lol. If we loan him to Saint-Étienne for a season after giving £26.5m, we can as well as close the club.

Arsenal will sign centre-back William Saliba for €25m + bonuses, before being loaned back to Saint-Etienne for the 2019/20 season. [@RomainCG75, Canal+] #afc

This club might just be taking the piss now.
Yeah we can't afford and attract the Ndombele's of this world anymore, our shit-stain numbers are now even trying to outwit us in signing prospects, lol...

... this may just be another wind up or really be the clueless idiots at our club shagging themselves over the fans misery.

........ 1 - nil to The Arsenal

We've lost out on numerous targets over the years, the execs taking home millions each year have never given a single shit. The only ones feeling a gut punch are the fans.

Oh trust me this fan base can get toxic. It's what finally put Wenger out. If these fan outburst happen In between shorter time frames.. maybe it will cause faster reaction and appeasement. I mean that is my last hope. The fact we finally collectively (most fans not all) spat enough poison towards arsenal the reacted and now that they crossed that line it should be easier the next time. I'm just spouting conjecture at this point but I do feel if we bottle this window unai emery will be the last of everyone's worries.

Spuds can chuck 20-25m at this just to piss us off .... they have 150m to spend and maybe more .... in their shoes we would do exactly the same. The problem isn't being financially screwed it's the fact that everyone knows it ...

I honestly cannot wrap my head around spending more than half our budget on a center back (which we need) and then loaning him back for a season. That is so fuc*** stupid.

More stupid than in two years time him being worth £70m and at a rival all because we didn’t want to loan him back?

If we loan him back there is absolutely no way we’re paying anywhere near £30m up front

Not that clubs pay fees up front anyway
