If doing well in the French league is irrelevant then why did we sign pepe, lacazette, giroud, nasri, sagna etc

Lmao

The manager is rubbish, nearly no one wants him here, he’s doing a dreadful job, when someone is doing a dreadful job they shouldn’t have final say.

Saliba could be here long after Arteta is gone if he doesn’t mess it up, potentially we could have a top CB on our hands, we already know we don’t have a top manager.

The club would be foolish to let Arteta decide, he hasn’t earnt the right either with us or in his career prior to us.

True, but we should probably give Saliba some games preseason. Can't just be a training assessment. Obviously doing well in the French League is irrelevant, but I would be surprised if he is worse than Holding.

Of course. Give him a try out and if he's any good and doesn't post any more gay porn on the Internet then keep him.

He's the manager and gets the final say.

That'll be the case for the foreseeable future so people better get used to it.

He’s never really earnt the right though, he’s been poor for us and has no track record before us, it would be foolish to let a manager who may well be gone in 6 months decide the future of a player who could be with us for 10-15 years and potentially become top notch.

It would be different if we had a manager who was proven.

With that power comes accountability. He had 3 months of lockdown in 2020 to talk to Saliba, to Raul and to St Etienne to figure out a plan.

£27m player and Arteta sent him to the U23s for half a year. The guy must think the club is made of moneyz and I can't blame him. He asked for £80m worth of players and Edu just rubber stamped it.

Edit: I forgot Arteta had COVID during this time. To be fair, he did not have much time between end of the FA cup and start of the new season. But at least registering him for the Europa group stage could have been the minimum. Even Balogun made that team. Edu should have done more here.

Yeah the situation was handled terribly, who sends a player who cost us 27 million and had just come back from a loan to the U23s and leaves him out of the squad completely without even looking at him.

Saliba then got sent out on loan 6 months later where he made a mockery of the commenters Arteta said about him not being ready, to add insult to injury Fofana who is the same age and played alongside Saliba in France was outstanding for Leicester.

That’s was one of very many Arteta mistakes, he then only ends up 8th in the league.

How many CBs have been premiership ready at 20?

Rio Ferdinand went to Leeds aged 22 and was still raw and error prone.

I want Saliba to be given chances but a few mistakes and the keyboard warriors would be writing him off.

That might explain Arteta's reluctance to play him. If we're signing another first team CB then I can see him going out on loan again (and I understand why that might frustrate some fans).

Every CB we have had for at least 10 years has been error prone it's no excuse

People wouldn’t write off a 20 year old who cost 27 million easily, so that’s untrue, also Saliba has played 1st team football anyway.

Fofana is the same age came from the same place and was great this season, age is no barrier.

The reason Arteta didn’t want to play him is basically because he’s clueless, that’s why we were 8th 2 seasons running and schooled by Emery.

The sooner Arteta goes the better, barely anyone wants him here, I hope he gets the message soon.

Spot on, plus Saliba has experience anyway. Arteta is just a terrible man manager, he’s a terrible manager too.

No thanks Tsapoba, players from the Bundesligue have a tendency not to work out for us, plus who is this guy anyway.

We’ve got Gabriel, Saliba, Mavropanos, Chambers and Mari, we’re well stocked there.

We’ve got Holding too but I’d sell him personally, he’s never been much kop, but if we keep him we’ve got 6 CBs which is too much anyway.

If this club goes for some other unknown CB it’ll be further proof of incompetence.
