He wanted to leave, they didn’t want to lose him for nothing so he signed a new contract on huge money, got given a lot more control and signings etc and ultimately left a couple years later, he didn’t want just walk out on PSG out of loyalty, but yes he wanted to leave and ultimately they broke the bank and gave him unprecedented control over the playing side.

Couple years later he left anyway.

He was always going to Real though, that was never in doubt.

Yes, because he was a Real fan as a kid, just like Cesc was always going to play for Barca. Real don't always get their own way!

He doesn't owe us or any club anything.

It's simple. We have to win big trophies. He is potentially as big as Desailly in French terms. If we don't win, he will leave.

Adebayor went there on loan from ManCity... that's about it.
Not a popular destination for ex Gunners.
More like Barca is a frequent one.
In any case, it'll be a long saga, if he's desperate, and we hold all the cards.
Also, we keep buying top young prospects in case of injuries and shock transfers.
Not worried.

Anelka did, Real today though are in a different league to even then.

If they want someone they get them, Real are a team who sign the best players, win trophies regularly and keep winning the CL, they’re on a different level to us to all but Arsenal fans in denial.

We’ve never even won the CL and have won just 2 European trophies with the last one being 30 years ago.

Nope, this is the weakest I have ever seen any Real Madrid team/pull be. They are no longer that elite club out on a level all to themselves

I dint think so, because we would've brought in a right footed CB instead.

Really, last I saw they won the CL again last season for the second time in 3 years and signed Mbappe, your claim is not backed up by actual evidence. The season before it was Bellingham.

I see it as the opposite. Madrid doesnt even have to try anymore. Every top player has them as their number 1 choice. Haaland and TAA will go there on free transfers.

Barca has been in a state of rebuilding since 2020 and Atletico are not challenging for major trophies. PSG`s galacticos have all left, the squad resembles Dortmund now. Bayern is not a pull for most players.

Look at their level, its nowhere near the Galacticos, FFS Vinicius Jr was their star man last season. Their midfield still has Modric, the guy is done, Tchouameni I don't rate and Valverde - meh.

Their attack is Vinicius Jr, Mbappe, Rodrigo, Endrick and Guler, I'm like, yeah whatevs. I don't see it as anything outstanding

That’s more down to the quality around football than Real Madrid.

They have Courtois, probably the world’s best keeper.

Vinicius the best wide forward around.

Mbappe arguably the best forward around.

Bellingham who is rated as one of the best midfielders around nowadays.

Tchouameni and Camavinga were highly rated players that many clubs but that Madrid got, you may not rate them but they are highly rated in the game.

Endrick was the next big hope from Brazil.

They also have Guler another one of the most desirable young players around.

That’s on top of the likes of Alaba, Rudiger and Mendy.

Pretty much all of the players they sign are players other big clubs are after.

Alphonso Davies may well be next.

Hopefully Saliba will realise just how much of a home he has created at Arsenal.
He didn't play well at all last night for France, but the way the French media have ripped him apart should be a bit of an eye opener for him.

Ok lets do this another way, lets go man for man

Courtois = Raya. Raya has shown that he is a match for Courtois and he has better distribution than the Belgian.

Timber > Carvajal. Shouldn't be a controversy
Saliba > Militao.
Rudiger > Gabriel. Gabriel matches Rudiger for aggression, Rudiger edges it because he makes less mistakes
Mendy > Calafiori. For now, but Calafiori will become better than him

Rice > Tchouameni. Rice is a better DM than Tchouameni
Valverde = Partey. I don't rate Valverde particularly
Odegaard > Bellingham. We all know Bellingham is grossly overrated.

Vinicius > Martinelli. On form the gap is actually pretty small but Vinicius wins this one
Mbappe > Havertz.
Saka > Rodrygo and Guler.

IF this Arsenal team man for man posts up well to this Real Madrid team, I'm sorry, but you can't tell me its a great Real Madrid side ! We are a good Arsenal side, not great, far from it when you compare to previous great Arsenal sides.

Come on, this is Madrid we are talking about. We don’t need to compare players. I love saliba but if I’m being honest he just ‘feels’ like a Madrid player, in a sense that I can just imagine him in that shirt. He has that galactico aura, he supported them as a kid and also has a lot of French mates in that team.

Sorry truth is that if we don’t win anything this year it will be 3 full years that we’ve been a top team with no trophies to show for it. At this stage players WILL start leaving for a new project. Liverpool managed to keep players like salah at their peak because they won a title and a CL.
