All Arteta has to do is to return to the 3-4-3 formation that delivered his sole managerial success.

BAM, now there's room for 3 CBs, which will give wingbacks and Partey/Ode flexibility to go forward and support the attack. Xhaka/Elneny can stay back.

We lose almost nothing in attack and have everything to gain. This isn't even a difficult system to implement, if Arteta can let his obsession with 4-3-2-1 go.

What would the lineup be in 3-4-3? Partey and Odegaard in CM?

Possibly, but it's a moot point if we're signing Tielmans and not letting anyone go. I see us starting Tielemans, Xhaka and Partey together next season.

I hope he actually wants to show the world how good he is and doesn't just say it, but sulk because we would sell him to Marseille to play CL football!
We only have 2 seasons to persuade him we are a good place to be, before we loose another £50m player for £0
Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack.

Most young players at that age want to prove themselves. It's a different story if we had signed some over the hill player that's way past his prime and content with a regular wage.

The ball is in our court. If decide to not loan him out and bench him and only give sporadic minutes, the confidence and form he'd have gained on loan goes to waste. No point in building the player up to break him back down to only try to rebuild him again.

He didn't appoint himself young POTY or write himself into the French NT. He isn't doing any self-PR. he is simply being rated by people that watch him train and play.

My hope is that the manager and our coaching staff are on the phone with him now and discussing plans for the season in a frank and honest way.

If it doesn't fit with his plans to play in the WC (France's first game is on November 22), let's sell him and use the money elsewhere. Making him a sub will kill his value, because he will refuse to renew like so many of our other players.

Looks like he's coming back and Arteta is keen to integrate him.

So much nonsense about Arteta not being keen. Looks like it's the opposite- he can't wait to have him in the squad.

The Nice loan debacle is a real strike against Arteta but loaning him to Marseille has been nothing but a success. The player got a ton of minutes for a CL squad and now comes back better than ever. We absolutely need to keep him this summer unless some team comes in with 50m. Too bad no one in France has any money except PSG.
