Italian champions Inter Milan and their city rivals AC Milan are set to rival Real Madrid in trying to sign Arsenal's France Under-21 centre-back William Saliba, 20, who is on loan in with Marseille. (Calciomercato - in Italian)

He was valuable before, we paid 27 million for a reason.

He’s top talent, always has been, that’s why Emery bought him, not a great surprise top clubs are interested in him.

We should have brought him back this season then offered him a new contract in the summer.

It seems we’re the only ones that don’t seem to rate him.

We got conned as we did with Pepe.
He was way off being a top player.
He still has a lot to prove when and if he steps it up to PL level.
But, Arteta has made excellent decisions with his career and we're now in a win / win situation.
He's really got to improve his awareness, though, which is still not at the required level.

Yup. He was ready to be put straight in. Might have worked. Might not have as is the case with any player but Fofana was great for Leicester so understandable to think Saliba might be as well

He'll probably leave cos of the way he's been treated by our management and excel elsewhere and we'll have missed out yet again cos we kept faith in Brighton's third best CB.

I didn't say Saliba was a top player.
He is doing well in a weaker league, but getting minutes and gaining experience.
He has certainly improved from what I saw in the U23s here where he was terrible.
£27m for an 18 year old who had played only 16 matches in the French league was too much.
I think there were some dodgy deals going on at the time - this one and Pepe.

I actually like Saliba and said I wanted him to get a chance last summer - but I am not going to pretend that I know better that the people making the assessment. I am happy that he is developing the way he is.

We seem to be coming out of this one in a win/win situation, so credit to the manager, club and player for the right development path.
The outcome is we have a 20 year old CB with very good potential, probably able to fetch close to what we paid for him - instead of a raw 18 year old who simply wasn't ready for the PL and could have really sunk. Real outcomes are what matter.

West Ham will target Arsenal's France Under-21 centre-back William Saliba, 20, who is on loan with Marseille, in the summer. Saliba has also been linked with Inter Milan, AC Milan and Real Madrid. (Jeunes Footeux via Sport Witness)

West Ham would be willing to splash out £25 million ($34m) on William Saliba if the French defender becomes available this summer, claims Jeunes Footeux.

Arsenal are yet to hand the talented centre-half a competitive appearances, with loan spells taken in outside of north London as a result, and he has been attracting plenty of admiring glances while at Marseille.

Think he'd do great there

Didn’t watch the game but apparently he was all over the place yesterday.

Guendouzi has apparently taken his game to the next level.

Horrible error by Saliba to gift the first goal to Angers.
He's got to cut that out of his game.

Guendouzi - good tackle and pass for the first goal - didn't see him involved in the other attacking play for the chances and other 4 goals. Looked to be bypassed most of the time.

He made a big error at 0-0 which led to Angers going 1-0 up.
It was just one of those moments of making the wrong decision down to inexperience.
Happens with very young players.
