Pretty sure he cleared this with the club management before making the public announcement. It's not WWE, he's not planning to turn into Loris Karius in his final ever appearance in professional football.

Pretty insulting to him to think this about someone with such stature in the game. If he fucks up in the final it’ll be his declining ability rather than any agenda
